Should red avatars take the criticisms that blue avatars make of the Democratic Party seriously? Should blue avatars take the criticisms that red avatars make of the Republican Party seriously?

In other words, generally speaking, do you think the other side of the aisle (on Atlas) makes good-faith criticisms of your party, or do their criticisms that focus on the things that they dislike about the party on a personal level?

No, I do not think blue avatars, in general, make good-faith criticisms of the Democratic Party.  Their supposed principles shift dramatically from topic to topic so they can always be on the anti-Dem side, a fact they are regularly called out on.  And their talking points are almost always derived from right-wing media sources, indicating a lack of independent thought beyond rationalizing one's own priors to accept the new talking points.

This. I dont automatically discount Dem posts unless its coming from an ultrahack like Dr. Scholl who cant go 3 posts without attacking Republicans or Trump.

Given how broad "red avatar" and "blue avatar" are as classifications, the true answer will always be "depends on the poster".

Or The Trump Virus, who thinks that every single person who has a blue avatar or identifies as a Republican is personally an insurrectionist.

No because we're all Partisans on this site each side thinks that they can't crack each other's wall states and the only reason why WI, MI and PA are so close as I said on PBOWER2A Approvals is that Rs dominate the state Legislatures in those 3 states except for MN and IL so of course D's aren't gonna blow Rs out on those states, but WI, PA and MI will have 2 D Senators Barnes and Fetterman are winning despite what Rs sat and we are gonna win the Govs there in 3.9 percent unemployment

But, this is a change election TX maynot be competetive, Lol Beto but Crist and DeWine can certainly lose or we can win NC.

this AND it depends on the arguments being made.  Smart people make dumb arguments sometimes.  Dumb people make good arguments sometimes.

Obviously, this. It’s also important to see that posters will acknowledge when their criticisms of the other party are also true to an extent of their party as well.

You can certainly find more blue avatar criticism of dems being valid in today's climate. 6 years ago? Probably not

Also I’d like to add depending on board too cause individual politics tends to be a far better board when it comes to debating policy than US Gen discussion(on both sides ).

D's aren't losing MI, WI and Pa and NV in 3.9 unemployment but will they take the H , we are very likely to at least take WI PA in the Senate and net LA in a Runoff and NC since Cheri Beasley Isa judge and Biden is putting a judge on SCoTUS, us if you look at 24 map Casey Jr solidifies PA and Stabenow solidifies MI abd RubenGallego will defeat Sinema in AZ and Kaine is on the ballot in VA in 24 and Susan Collins being against Viying Rights, we may lose the H but the Senate is good for us and H can be won back

So, the only bragging rights is if RS takes the H in 22 that Ould be it they're not winning the Prez in 24 or the S thru 26

You think it’s more valid today? I’d say the opposite.

There are legitimate criticisms to be had for each party, but too often, the criticisms on here of "red avatars" or "blue avatars" cross over into ad hominem attacks and the like. Many posters on here-including one who's been praised as a "good guy" by some-have a habit of not being able to separate the personal from the political, and believe that someone should be entirely defined by their political identity or their partisan affiliation.

Never mind that such a person may be generous, or personally kind, or civil, or capable of getting along with people who have opposing viewpoints. Never mind that such a person sometimes agrees with them on the issues, or is capable of criticizing their own side. And never mind that such a person tries their best with what they post.

But anyhow, these kinds of attacks reduce the incentive for posters to engage in debates with others, and they tend to "rile" people up, and to increase the tensions on the forum. On the whole, I don't think such attacks are of benefit to the forum community.
