Honestly I don't feel that strongly about either. One is an issue from two decades ago that only affects us indirectly, and the other is something I have conflicting and otherwise fairly weak opinions about. I'll vote marijuana though, since I do care a lot about ending mass incarceration and decriminalizing it is a key way to achieve that.

The Iraq War and marijuana criminalization are both indefensible evils on a large enough scale with high enough scales that it feels silly to rank them. The Iraq War probably did more damage, but it's not as clear cut as it usually is when the alternative is unprovoked decades long campaign of state violence against countless people intended to preserve Jim Crow

MJ is solvable like other substances, just regulate to excess to disincentivize and restrict.

Iraq is forever responsible for so many (more) things going on in The Middle East, and on the public conscience, it'll never be removable.

Dang that's a tough one.

I'm probably more pro-Iraq War than I am pro-marijuana legalization, but just barely. Huge supporter of both.

Marijuana.

The Iraq War stopped being a relevant issue by the time I became politically aware.

Marijuana, I guess, since that's still an active issue, though both issues actually point to larger issue supersets it makes more sense to talk about (unaccountable foreign policy driven by unsophisticated actors versus rampant safetyism), and I'm not sure which of those is more important. I think the latter, but in my mind that has the feel of a 'hot take', and I think a focus on the former is more easily justified.

Anyway, voted Marijuana (R ). It's the Current Year.

Marijuana wasn’t a hot issue in 2003 as far as I know.

What inspired this thread is that I the Iraq War hurt Hillary more than I think it should have while marijuana hasn’t hurt Biden as much as I think it should.

In 2022, marijuana.

Iraq war has been over for a decade now lol.

This poll makes it look like it's a right wing issue.

I don't care about marijuana much either way as a political issue, somehow it beats out a war that ended almost a decade ago.

Hm... the illegal massacre of thousands of innocent people, or muh weed. Hard to choose...

Former cannot be undone anymore.

Latter we have impact on.

Illegality of weed can ruin lives too by people being in prison who by no means should be in prison for example or by failing as a state / institution to deliver proper healthcare (the right one) to people having a drug addiction. Also, it is an essential human freedom we should protect. Postponing legalisation leads to loss in quality of life.

And to me quality/longitude of life matters.

The current issue, and the issue I'm (partially) sending a message in over in November.
