Dreadful Thatchercrat, awful. A great shame that such people have such influence right now.

Daily reminder that if your job requires a degree it's probable that it'd be better for society if you just quit and started cheating welfare.

This used to be a conservative talking point as late as the tea party era. Buckley also used it to deride then Democratic states like MS and use it as proof that people like Wallace were lying about being conservative.

It refers to states taking in more money than they pay in taxes. Alaska usually tops the list and Gottheimers Republican predecessor used to use the same angle against "the Appropriators" or "Porkers" as they were called in the 2000s.

Gotthemier, who looks like a less washed up version of Harvey Weinstein, has been a disaster. His toxic centreism knows no bounds

Seriously, if you view America as a nation of "makers" versus "takers", you are a misanthrope and should acknowledge such. It was true in 2012 and it's true now.

There are two things here, one for the OP OSR, and the other more in general.

1.Maybe this should be a question with its own thread: do people really believe that Republicans are now the 'party of the little guy' or something, or are they still the party that believes in people 'picking themselves up by their own bootstraps'?

It's probably most true, as it always has been, that for all but white people in the South and 'the Heartland' that Republicans still believe that everybody else should 'pick themselves up by their own bootstraps.'

2.For OSR, since you have an obsession with Satan Ronnie.  This is what he said at the height of the severe recession in 1982/1983:
“Is it news that some fella out in South Succotash someplace has just been laid off, that he should be interviewed nationwide?”

Of course, OSR also regrets Mitt Romney not winning in 2012.  Mitt Romney made a comment in which he virtually literally called 47% of Americans 'moochers.'  So, what exactly is OSR's concern here?  Is he calling for Josh Gottheimer to join the Republican Party?

It's true, but in another sense in another sense it is necessary to confront such typically right wing narratives with the fact that Is they and their red States overwhelmingly benefit from the tax contributions of blue States, in order to puncture this BS narrative

You're not going to find many people willing to apologize for Josh Gottheimer here.

This, yet also brutally ironic of “old school Republicans” to be critiquing him. Your heros, Reagan and Thatcher et al, centered their policy messaging on the idea that society has “moochers.”

Hell, Mitt Romney even used it in 2012! 47% of Americans rely on government

This is old and is not newsworthy, it's also already been discussed at length in the BBB thread. Also "Middle America" is such a vague and dumb term, and both sides should just stop using it. It reminds of the term "Real America," which implies that the places where most of the people live are somehow artificial and un-American.

If SALT is good policy than why doesn’t New Jersey allow people to deduct federal taxes from a New Jersey return

You know, I never thought of that.  Splendid thinking.  Of course, if they did so, NJ would have to enact budget cuts or a tax increase.

Most people in white/"middle class" jobs are leechers. If you're in middle management, most bureaucracy jobs or ANY job related to compliance the difference between you and a welfare bum if you put in more steps.

And just what is your occupation?

Somehow, I have a tough time viewing people who show up for work faithfully as moochers, regardless of their occupation.

He is far kinder than I would have been. The words o have to describe much of America is honest, but not what the fools want to hear.

So?

The people on the coasts (even if many of them are coastal Romneyite Republicans) pay for the government operations of Kentucky and West Virginia.

OSR states like KY and WV have more moocher welfare queens on a per capita basis than most blue/purple states.

Again is SALT is good policy then CA/NY/NJ should let you deduct federal taxes . Honestly SALT should be set up like this

States that fully let you deduct federal taxes : SALT is fully restored

States that partially let you deduct federal taxes : SALT is limited like it is now

States that don’t let you deduct federal taxes : SALT is fully eliminated

There's "personal responsibility", and then there's this extreme neo-darwinism.
