Well, plain logic says that if the majority of smuggled fentanyl was getting seized at the border, the smugglers would've employed new methods to bring it in undetected. Drug cartels don't like losing money, even if losses at the border are always going to be a cost of doing business.

There are so many movements at legal ports of entry alone that it is impossible for CBP to put more than a dent in the smuggling that occurs.

There's no reason to not just let it in.

Why are you assuming that they're successful in doing this?

Ubiquitous abuse of illicit narcotics by Republican officeholders could certainly explain the modern GOP.

We all know they would have been singing Trump's praises to the sky had this same story come out if he had been President instead of Biden.

I don't get this.
There have been drugs coming through, and much of it being stopped/confiscated, for years.
What is the sudden hard-on by the GOP in all this?

Modern Republicans have nothing substantial to offer America (effectively, they seek to destroy it). The GOP has become a snake eating its own tail, focused on both exploiting and encouraging racism, sexism, xenophobia, fear, hatred and other base emotions.

Biden is a basically competent President and decent human being. He's also white, male, and Christian. And while he's trying to move in the direction of much-needed reforms, he's not slaughtering any sacred cows. The Republicans have no easy lever to pull to rile up their base against Biden.

And so Republicans are doing what they always do: trying to turn molehills into mountains, which they hope will distract from their own grievous flaws.

Good on Biden. Fentanyl and immigration are bad. Glad he's stopping both.

The news tomorrow: How seizing large drug shipments is a major problem for the Biden administration

The news next week: Why can’t Joe Biden convert his successful drug interdiction program into positive approvals on drug policy?

All that stuff should be 100% legalized anyway.
