It seems that in most western countries(especially the U.S), GenZ is going to have a much better economy and better economic prospects( in 2021 and onwards) compared to the millenial generation did back in the late 2000s and early to mid 2010s. Progressive politics also seem to be much more in the mainstream as well along with better social advancements since then.

Would all of this cause millenials to be be more bitter and/or jealous of GenZ?

I doubt it unless there are some totally new societal fault lines that emerge. Sure we can pull out the typical older generation vs. younger generation stuff like "Durr, Zoomers don't know how to use a floppy disk" and whatever Zoomers say about Millennials that I'm not privy to, but that's not really resentment.

If there's anything I'm envious of Gen Z about, it's not their economic or political situation, but just that they're that much more removed from the overpowering societal pressure to live up to the mid-20th century middle class nuclear American family ideal, and they're that much less likely to have family members disown them over things like coming out as LGBT+ or being in an interracial relationship. But that's obviously not something I blame Gen Z for. It's just another thing I blame Boomers for.

If anything, the Gen Zers are already starting to develop resentment of Millennials for being normie libs.

I already do resent them, but only because of my own jealousy. Millennials grew up believing they could be anything they wanted to be and that economic conditions would just always be okay. It was a huge con. It’s easy for people who live in the middle of nowhere to laugh at Millennials who feel this way, but for people whose families have lived around the big cities for generations, it’s a huge blow. The affordability crisis is real, and it’s not as easy as just moving somewhere else.

Zoomers were able to learn from our mistakes, at least, which I think does make something of a difference on issues like student debt, education, housing, etc.

They already do, I'm seeing it all over the internet--they're adopting the same entitled "I'm better than everyone else, the next generation sucks and is ruining the country" attitude that boomers had of them, and that every generation has of the next one.

 Press X to doubt

Besides, there's not really a "generation is chin" between millennials and genzi types.  The former are not parents of the latter. We gen X  If types are parents of the gen Z.

No.  I'm proud of them.  They're so advanced, so open-minded, so bold and so courageous...  Generations would be stupid as f**k to resent one another - we were all young and we are all going to be old one day.

This is already starting.

Check out emo Facebook groups. They're mostly "populated" by grumpy mid-30s people who absolutely despise Gen Z and rave about how kids today listen to such awful music and don't appreciate "the classics" like Sunny Day Real Estate.

Also I've heard that Gen Z despise Family Guy (and thus its mostly Millennial fanbase) due to how decidedly unwoke it is.

I wouldn't say "resentment" is the right word, but there's a lot about Gen Z culture that mystifies and disturbs me, such as weird moral priorities (especially as applied to things like "consuming media"), Swiss-cheese historical memory brought on by seeing the ever-shifting and protean nature of online data storage as a natural part of the way the world works, and "influencer" culture combined with hypocritical preening about immunity to more traditional forms of advertising. However, just as with the foibles of all previous generations, there are pretty clear material and historical reasons why zoomers are the way they are, so it's not really their fault that I have these problems with them.

I don't think GenZ will have it better at all.  Have you seen home prices now?  And interest rates are going up.

The next generation is completely and utterly screwed unless they come from money.  It will be a permanent renter class.  But to be fair, this is how millionaires and boomers designed the system.  Low capital gains tax, let tax increases kick in over time (as they conveniently exit the work force), make it easy to get an unsecured education loan, but much harder to get a secured loan for a house.  It took a few decades but GOP policies made a generation of indentured servants ready to take care of Boomers and called it GenZ.  Congrats.

Manufactured generational warfare is a con. Gen Y and Z share an increasing distaste for the status quo and recognize the climate disaster as our mutual inheritance. We need to build solidarity if there's any hope for a better future, not fall prey to arbitrary, astroturfed divisions invented for the sake of ad-revenue.
