Obviously if the birth has happened, the issue of the birthing person is no longer at stake. Either she/he survived the pregnancy or she/he didn't.

Now what does matter is autonomy. If post-birth fetus is still attached via umbilical cord, or is using  respirator, has birthing really finished, honestly?

The birthing person should have the final say, until the post-birth fetus is able to survive on its own.

Friendly reminder that less than 0.2-0.5% of abortions take place after 21 weeks. That numbers can change depending on the study, but it's usually always under 1%.

Whenever Conservatives are discussing this issue; just assume they are lying or severely distorting any number or statistic they talk about.

Carry on.

Abortions should be permitted up until the 50th trimester.

Once the baby is born, it's a separate issue from abortion IMO, because the "your body, your choice" argument no longer applies. The only case where one might argue it could be justified is in extremely tragic situations where the baby is guaranteed to die in a week anyway.

And still then it’s not enough. The choice was already made and now you and everyone else has to accept it.

So, until the "post-birth fetus" is 23ish years old, in most families these days? Good luck selling a modern society on patria potestas (matria potestas?).
