Could have very well been the Republican Barack Obama of 2000, but might have not beaten GWB anyway.

I don't think he felt that what we were doing over in the Middle East was the right strategy and I'd be very curious to learn more about why he said that and if he would do it differently, what he'd do... I trust him because he's military himself and knows the cost of war.

FF tho.

Soft FF.

As I said in the othe thread, Iraq is a strain on his legacy. Nonetheless, I think we can honor is military service and expertise on certain issues.

A terrible person who discovered he was a useful idiotic b•••• to higher powers way too late to make use of it.

Massive HP who should have been tried along with the entire Bush national security team.

Of course the entire bourgeois press is lauding him as a "war hero," as they did with McCain, because he endorsed Democrats and anyone who devotes their lives to the imperialistic military complex of human suffering for the sake of controlling petroleum supplies and profits for American oil companies, keeps criticism of the crumbling American empire in check.

Disappointed, but not surprised that a majority of Atlas Dems and ""progressives"" have voted FF thus far.

The only tragic part of his death was that it happened outside of a prison cell

While i'm not a fan of the politician and voted accordingly, I still want to express my condoleances towards family, friends & other relatives of Colin Powell.

He was an awful person not just as a military leader or a Bush stooge, but even as a soldier who bragged about committing atrocities against the Vietnamese people, but as I mentioned elsewhere, my condolences to his loved ones, and his service was still commendable.

HP, for Iraq, though I felt kind of guilty for that vote

I'm not sure what exactly is commendable about his service given the perspective you're taking on the specifics of it, tbh.

I voted HP but unlike with, say, Rumsfeld, I'm not gloating about this, mostly because Powell came closer to showing remorse.

Nothing beyond the length of it, and the fact that doing so is a personal struggle for even the most horrible of people. But I have nothing else positive to say.
