https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/26/opinion/biden-haitian-migrants.html

"Joe Biden, once again, disappointed many of the same Black voters who were his strongest supporters. How much of this can or should Black people stand?"

Except these voters are consistently to the right of him on immigration and less favorable to open borders. A lot of these journalists take an immigration stance that is well to the left of even the average Dem. It's bad because most people want the President to get a sense of control at the border.

Those images of white border patrol agents attacking Haitian migrants did not go over well with the average Black person. If anything it is you who has the misunderstanding. It's not even about the larger picture of immigration, it is about the behavior of border patrol.

Ohh they definitely should have handled the specific situation much better. It's just that Blow always seems dumbfounded as to why more minority voters aren't with Bernie, Warren types.

The types of people that write for the NY Times tend to believe that all women, gays, blacks, whites, hispanics, etc. feel a strong sense of solidarity with all other members of their specific demographic. It's the kind of delusion that only a liberal columnist could buy into these days.

Imagine thinking that a non-White Latino in Hidalgo County feels more solidarity with an Afro-Latino in the Bronx than with a White person in Laredo.

How truly insane do you have to be to think that the Biden administration's immigration policy has resembled anything close to open borders?

As a radical centrist™ who's terrified of things like universal healthcare and affordable education, the NYT is on your side, not mine. But yes, you are quite correct that they often misjudge the opinions of minorities, since most of their writers went to prep school in Connecticut and now live on the Upper West Side with rent help from daddy to get the "NYC experience." They certainly have not spent much time in East New York or Hunts Point, which are part of the city allegedly in their purview.

I'm the one who's terrified of universal healthcare and affordable education? Being opposed to the most extreme and out-of-touch leftwing agenda on healthcare and education doesn't make me opposed to (or terrified of) those things. Either way, I can assure you that the NYT is not on my side.

That Latino person in Hidalgo County probably identifies as White.

Average Latino, sure.
That's why I specified "Non-White".
