Several new polls have been released in the last few days.  Fox, Hotline, and a "normal Zogby" poll all have the president registering at 42% approval.  The numbers are also quite consistent when it comes to the generic number.  Each poll gives the Democrats a lead of 11, 12 and 9 points respectively.  From a conservative Republican perspective, that's not good, but it's much better than it was in May and slightly improved from two weeks ago.

As far as the "generic number", the Fox poll saw the biggest change as Democrats increased their lead from 3 to 11 points.  That makes much more sense to me.  The three point number of two weeks ago seemed out of wack.  John Zogby also noted that the Democrats remain in a good position, but the Republicans have made gains.  He said the difference now is that the "conservative choir" is listening.  He also noted that 89% of Democrats plan to support thier party while 88% of Republicans plan to support their party.

Among the rabid members of the base, liberals probably remain more energized, but it appears that conservatives are moving in the right direction.  Although many of the "blue staters" won't agree with me, I still don't see any proof that Republicans lack motivation in the upcoming elections.

I should also mention that these numbers worry me.  At this point in time, I would have expected the "generic number" to be closer.  If it were 6-8 points, I would feel some confidence.  Unfortunately from my point of view, the number remains at 10-12 points.  I hope the ad blitz does it's job or else this electin really could come down to one or two seats.

Well its nice to get some consistency even though these are far from my three favorite pollsters here (to say the least).
