That would put the US in quite a sticky situation Ernest, dontcha think?

Assuming we still have troops in South Korea.  We may end up pulling them all out so that we can send them to Iraq at the rate things are going.

Turn off the liberal trash you're listening to...immediately...and I know you listen to NPR. Tongue

We could just remove Iran's military, nuclear sites and political leaders and just leave. No one says we have to rebuild Iran after we're done.
And leave it to become an anarchist terrorist state?  Nice.

Well, then where else do we get troops from?  Of all the mistakes Rumsfeld and company have made, the worst has been to get us involved in a protracted occupation without increasing the size of our ground forces.

Europe plus what we have in various other non-conflict areas.

Finish one conflict at a time. Afganistan should have been done before considering Iraq. We do not have the resources to take on Iran while stretched thin in Iraq and Afganistan.

You underestimate the US military if you believe we are "stretched thin". We may not have a choice about taking on Iran. And I've always believed that Afghanistan and Iraq are simply going to be used as stepping stones to a larger conflict to finish Iran. I was stating that way back in 2002 and I stand by it....as I believe it's a longterm strategy to outflank and confine Iran from expanding into the region.

Correct.

We could just remove Iran's military, nuclear sites and political leaders and just leave. No one says we have to rebuild Iran after we're done.
And leave it to become an anarchist terrorist state?  Nice.

Just what we need another Somalia.

I could see Kurdish parts of Iran combining with Iraqi Kurdistan in that scenario and just declare themselves independent.

Which would upset the whole balance of power in the Iraqi government probably leading to a civil war, in my opinion.

Because that worked so well when the Soviets did it in Afghanistan.

Yeah pretty much. It wouldn't be a pretty sight. If we use MasterJedi's plan we would have civil war in both Iran and Iraq a 100 million people locked into Somalian style anarchy.
