Historically, Republican.

Biden was the first Democratic presidential candidate to win it since Woodrow WIlson.

Republicans won it through the 1930s, then it became a bellwether through the 80's and now it's a Democratic stronghold.

Republicans.  The Democratic presidential candidate has carried my state four times in history, and my county eight.

Republicans, although it was rarely by more than a 15% margin until Trump turned McCain and Romney's 10% margin to a 30% margin. The last Dem to win my county was Bill Clinton in 1996.

My county voted Democratic for President in every election from 1932 through 1968, except in 1952 when Ike carried it by a point.

My county then voted Republican in every Presidential election from 1972 through 1992, until giving Clinton a 10-point margin in 1996. Gore carried the county in 2000, but Bush narrowly won it in 2004. Obama carried the county twice, as did Trump. No Democrat, however, has matched Hubert H. Humphrey's 1968 performance (though Obama in 2008 came close).

Of the 75 largest counties in the US in 1990, my county ranked second from the bottom in percentage of adults 25+ with a 4-year degree (above only Bronx, NY and marginally less than Wayne, MI). It also was tied for first place with Oakland, MI as the county with the largest percentage of workers who drive alone to work.

You can probably guess the county I'm referring to.

The last time Orleans Parish went for Republicans was in 1972, 1956 before that.

My guess is Macomb County because you mentioned both Wayne and Oakland. The only other county touching both Wayne and Oakland counties is Washtenaw, which is one of the most educated counties in the country, not one of the least.

El Paso County is a historically Republican county. It has only voted Democratic five times since statehood in 1876: 1896 (William Jennings Bryan), 1912 and 1916 (Woodrow Wilson), 1936 (Franklin D. Roosevelt), and 1964 (Lyndon B. Johnson). Populist candidate James B. Weaver won El Paso County in 1892, the only other occasion in which it hasn't voted Republican.

El Paso County was for years one of the most Republican counties in the state; it was one of only two counties where George H.W. Bush broke 70% in 1988 (the other was Hinsdale County) and one of only two counties where Bush got an absolute majority in 1992 (the other was Cheyenne County). But in recent years, the county has become more Democratic, and Biden was the first Democrat to receive over 40% of the vote here in more than fifty years. Given these trends, it's possible that El Paso County votes Democratic sometime in the next 20-30 years.

Bergen used to be a Republican stronghold (with the exceptions of 1912, 1936, and 1964) until 1996.

Democrats until 2012, when Romney won narrowly, then Trump expanded the lead in 2016 and won again in 2020.

Monmouth County seems to have been a Democratic county from 1828 until 1892 (with the possible exceptions of 1864 and 1872), but has been generally Republican since 1896 with the exceptions of 1912, 1996, and 2000.

On the other hand, my town (Union Beach, founded in 1925) was heavily Democratic in all elections except 1952, 1956, and 1972 from 1928 until 1976, but shifted heavily Republican in the late 1970s due to stagflation and has voted overwhelmingly Republican in all Presidential elections since 1980 with the exception of 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2012.

Republican... has only voted DEM for PREZ some 5-6 times in the past (100) Years, although I believe Jimmy bagged it in '76 and Dukakis did quite well in '88.

Historically Republicans actually. But if you limit to recent history and relevant elections...haha should not be a question.

Republicans won Chester County in every election from 1900 to 2004, except for 1912 (when Taft and Roosevelt split the Republican vote, allowing Wilson to win it narrowly) and 1964 (when Goldwater lost the state by 30%).

Since 2008, Chester has voted Dem in every election except for 2012, when Romney won it by only 500 votes. Biden had the best performance for a Democratic candidate in over 150 years at least.

For the first 90 years of this county's formal existence, Republicans won all but two presidential elections (1912 and 1964). After that, however, Democrats have gone 8-for-8 in presidential elections.
