I’m obviously being sarcastic, but this statement wasn’t necessarily well received by a lot of MAGA (as you can see in some of the replies).

Is this a nail in the coffin for his potential 2024 bid? Or will nothing happen and he’ll be fine?

DeSantis is playing up the culture wars stuff for the base but seems to be otherwise trying to position himself as relatively reasonable so he can appeal to moderates too. If he wins the primary, that could be a potent mix in a general election.

It's only a good sign for his candidancy if he's sending these sorts of messages this early. He'll need to play the game well to survive the scrutiny befiting an early nomination hopeful.

It's clear that the Republican messaging on vaccines is slowly changing and he is just getting on board. He is mostly certainly going to get ahead of this because he doesn't want it to effect his re-election chances. Republicans never do anything unless it is beneficial politically. At the same time he could easily get primaried out by Matt Gaetz next year if he pushes too hard on vaccines.

I’m sure a good majority of Floridians support the vaccine so it probably helps him to say stuff like this. The question is whether this’ll help him or hurt him if he runs in 2024 if the MAGA base remembers this quote, and not in a good way either.

The thing about DeSantis and what makes him dangerous electorally is he knows when to turn the stupid on and off. He can go full MAGA but then complement Democrats when he works with them on something he thinks the voters find popular or where they expect bipartisanship.

DeSantis is the most electable candidate for 2024. Hopefully Trump doesn’t torpedo his chances.

Trump got away with being pro vaccines, but Trump is God to these people and Desantis is not, so Desantis might lose the Q vote in 2024. So if a more crazy candidate runs and Trump doesn’t run, the Qidiots will probably go for the loon.

There's a reason Trump got the vaccine secretly.

Trump got the vaccine secretly because he doesn't want his supporters to get vaccinated. The longer the pandemic continues, the more Biden will be blamed for it, and the better the GOP's chances of taking over the House and Senate in 2022. If this happens, and Trump is Speaker, I fully expect the GOP to coup Biden and Harris, making Trump President again.

Have office holding republicans gone against the vaccine? I must have missed that. I mean aside from someone like MTG?

When he runs for Prez, he would have to come up with another tax cut proposal, FL doesn't have Income tax and alit of positions Trump favored as Prez like oil drilling, restarting Keystone pipeline, of course he is benefiting from running with Rubio this time, he ran with Scott whom doesn't have 55% approvals and almost lost. Rubio is Cuban

He is seven pts down to Biden along with Trump

A lot of them will probably just write-in Trump for the primary and general election if he doesn't run.

Dems were hoping to capitalize on PR Statehood in 2020/2022 and in FL so they think Latinos are automatically gonna vote D's

Latinos and Afro Americans are more conservative than they are in the N, they don't support SSM, so Buttigieg as Harris Veep is out, as many users have predicted that matchup and on guns, that's why Biden won their vote over Bernie in the primary.

Once the Prez election comes around again the focus is gonna be on what have the Rs done for poor people and tax cuts for the rich and Biden and Harris will win without FL
