Opinion of people who support many transphobic policies like banning trans people from playing in professional sports, and requiring them to use bathrooms based on the gender on their birth certificate, among other transphobic policies, all while being trans themselves. People like Caitlyn Jenner as an example.

It's not remotely transphobic to not support transwomen playing college or professional women's basketball. The dunking alone would break the game.

Other sports may not make much difference, but basketball just isn't workable.

I hate Caitlyn Jenner as much as the next girl, but I don't think it's a cis person's place to judge whether or not trans people are "self-hating".

As a rule I tend to abhor applying the adjective "self-hating" to subsets of people based on them not comporting with orthodox interpretations of oppression and discrimination for their identity group. Even more so when this comes from someone outside that identity group, like it happens with this thread. I am sure if Caitlyn Jenner were actually a self-hating trans woman she wouldn't have transitioned in the first place.

It makes a lot of difference in almost all other sports too.

But that doesn’t matter. Pointing out that differences exist is the part that’s supposed to be “transphobic” now.

Please stop this nonsense.

No one would ever think of barring a cis woman from competing in sports if she was 6'5" and stronger than most ever woman.

There is no argument in favor of barring trans women from competing in women's sports that doesn't boil down to "they aren't really women".

We all are, which is exactly what makes this question so pointless. I've spent the past seven years of my life cycling through countless identities that ultimately felt disingenuous and dishonest to the biological and psychosocial constraints of my existence, which to some people who try to enforce this turboliberal understanding of GNC identity would certainly seem self-hating. "Movement LGBT" discourse has ultimately done a similar amount of harm as good in establishing the terms and concepts at play, smoothing over and denying various traditional understandings of gender in favor of Anglocentric hegemony that leaves far too many out.

I intimately understand your pain, and pray that you may find solace.

Assuming people are “self-hating” is more of a HP move, in my opinion.

There are self-hating people, but 99% of the time someone calls someone “self-hating”, what they really mean is “I don’t agree with that opinion, so there’s no way a person like you could hold it without being hateful towards yourself.”

Ugh, I can't stand people who hate themselves and their own identity group!  Now, excuse me while I get a vasectomy so I don't reproduce any more white cis males in the world.

6-5 ciswomen rarely if ever dunk. Britney Griner, the greatest wbb forward/center ever can do it occassionally if not guarded.

A 5-10 cisman can dunk all the time. He wouldn't lose that ability with a totally sincere transition, even by reducing testosterone. Transwomen would break women's basketball.

It seems the question is more about the 'I'm one of the good/real ones' conservative-reactionary trans who also tend to conform to their gender through 'confirmation' surgery/hormonal treatments and can be quite dismissive of non-binary identity or those who comfortably hold a trans identity but live with the body they have. And they often jump on the TERF train.

They are self appointed gate-keepers. It's more self-serving than self-loathing. That's what springs to my mind and my opinion is obviously negative as it is with similar gay 'I got mine' Rubin's and Murray's of the world.

Not entirely fair. Murray is at least a provocateur who can be interesting.

Self-hating trans people, knowing nothing else about them, are HPs, but transphobic trans people are worse. I'm definitely the former, and I probably fit under the latter since I believe that literally everybody is a massive transphobe, and the people who say the loud part quietly are just trying to be nice.

Yep. I had to block an old college classmate on Facebook a while back for laughing at some Japanese mangaka for using the term "x-gender" rather than "nonbinary". It's the mirror image of the idea that since modern sexual identity terminology hasn't always existed LGBT people haven't always existed either.

Thank you, Ayla, but my post was a bit more tongue-in-cheek than called for this kind of sincerity-mode response. Again, though, thank you and it means a lot.

Genuinely, this isn't true.
