Did O'Rourke use the nickname "Beto" for political reasons? If so, how much did it help him in 18'?

Since O'Rourke is actually Irish, I think he must have realized that it would be hard for him running for office in El Paso. Is that why he decided to use that name, instead of using calling himself Bob or just plain old Robert? And did it help him any with the Tejano vote in 18'?

Of Course, Beto sounds Spanish and he wanted to used it instead of his Irish name, but the right wing media took him down for Prez after he laid out his campaign on Oprah and his stuttering isn't helpful either

Unless if Beto's family somehow knew that he would be running for office when Beto was an infant, he didn't do that.

So there’s Radical Liberal Raphael Warnock, but what nickname did Ossoff have?

Probably counterbalanced by Cruz using the name "Ted."

The right called him "Pajama Boy" for a while: https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2017/04/19/congratulations-to-pajama-boy-on-his-victory-for-the-ages/

That's how Kenyan-born Barack Obama got that birth announcement placed in the Hawaii newspapers in 1961
