Would Alderman Raymond Lopez be a good challenger to Mayor Lori Lightfoot in 2023? He is a conservative gay Democrat who is pro-police and anti-Lightfoot, can he win?

LOL. Napolitano is a Republican. He wouldn't have a prayer.

Does he even want to run? I mean, he has a safe House seat.

He's run for it before and iirc considered running in 2019, so I could see it. Plus he's pretty old already, so one or two terms as mayor would be a good way to cap off his career.

It's important to remember — and this is basically the opposite of New York — that the Mayor of Chicago is a kind of monarch. The power of the mayor over the city is really quite remarkable, far more than what an individual Congressman can accomplish. There's a reason that last cycle's field included the President of the County Board (a countywide elected position) and the State Comptroller (a statewide elected office), and why past fields have included Congressmen and Senators — being Mayor is such a step up from those offices that it was worth running.

What are the differences between Chuy Garcia and a possible entry of Ronny K Davis?

Chuy is about 15 years younger and might actually run. Davis was gonna retire two terms ago, it'll happen any cycle now.

Chuy or Valencia (unless she won the SoS primary) would be my picks if Lightfoot doesn't run for another term.
