I say yes. This will reduce unwanted pregnancies and therefore reduce the need for abortions. If one can't trust a 17-year-old girl with a pill, how can you trust her to bear and raise a child?

Yes. I think its actually teenage women who probably benefit more from the morning-after pill than adult women. I think it should be available to anyone and should not be restricted unless there is a serious medical reason to keep it from being distributed over the counter.

Yes. I see no legal reason that would prevent it.

My only issue here is that a perscription is not required.  While the Plan B pill is more safer than RU486, there are still potentials for adverse reactions, and I think that under-educated young girls should see a doctor before use.  After all, what's the point of having a perscription for birth control pills if you can get the morning after pill without on???

Anyway, I have a feeling this is also going to lead to an increase in unprotected sex, and therefore increasing the odds of the spread of STDs.  Hopefully guys and girls will still use condoms as the first line of defense, and not just take the easy way out with the Plan B pill.

Yes, definitely. It will help reduce the number of abortions performed, and I think everyone here can agree that's a good thing.

I hope the fundies realizes that it prevents a fertilized egg from ever attatching itself to the uterus, so it could never have been human anyway....

The only problem with those is they remove all the enjoyment from sex.. so really they're not a very realistic or helpful 'solution' to anything.

The point of the pill being prescribed is because of the frequent adverse reactions, not to make people's lives harder. Anyways, I assume you mean first-ever use?

Plan B is okay apparently, but RU induced pretty heavy vomiting and stuff, so it wasn't exactly something you wanted to do all the time. And I have bought it with a woman and watched her vomit afterwards, once. Not nice, the thing.

Yes, for these exact reasons.  If this will reduce the number of abortion instances, it should be legal.

Exactly. It's not an abortion pill at all; the only reason to oppose its use from a religious standpoint would be if you feel that it's God's will whether or not the egg will become fertilized and no one has any right to interfere with that, which would lead you to oppose condoms and all other forms of birth control as well.

But even if you ascribe to the idea that once the egg becomes fertilized a human being has been created, it still doesn't kill a life as it prevents conception from ever taking place.
