Miami is trending right and I like the right wing politics more! Plus it is more lively. Majority Hispanic. Almost no Asians and very few heritage Americans. (Also 2020 was NOT a fluke, inspite what people here love to claim. Dems lost big in a high turnout election. If it was a low turnout election I may agree with the liberals on here about that!)

San Diego is more liberal nowadays for me but far nicer to love in. Perfect place to live and raise a family in, but artificial and boring/suburby. High Asian population though!

San Diego has too many military welfare queens, but Miami has a lot of really Trumpy Cubans. Neither, I'll stay here in the cold.

I may end up living in San Diego in the near future, since UCSD is on my grad school shortlist. I'd much rather take the drier climate and mountains over the constant hellish humidity and will-be-underwater-by-2040 flatness of Miami, even with all the aforementioned army brats, suburban Goldwater types, etc. And not all San Diego army brats are inherently bad -- after all, Tina Weymouth was one.

Thanks for giving me more reasons to live in Miami! I love the anti socialism!

They don't understand or care about socialism. But they do believe, on a higher than average scale, in Trump conspiracy theories and in Q-Anon, as well as in anti-science Covid denialism, which is why they swung so heavily to Trump in 2020.

You can debate "understanding" — I don't think many are sitting down to read Marx before bed — but to say people in Miami "don't care about socialism" is just absurd.

To paraphrase Fulton Sheen, there are not one hundred people in Miami who hate socialism....

Atlas trying not to judge places based on their political geography for 24 hours challenge

San Diego because of less humidity and because it seems like a nice place to be. La Jolla sounds nice.

I don't think you broke any rules, but your choice of wording sounds a bit strange in US English. I assume you're using "heritage American" to refer to Non-Hispanic White Americans whose ancestors came to the US before 1965.

Voted San Diego for the weather + employment prospects. Wouldn't mind living in Miami-Dade if I had a nice job to keep me there, but I'd want to leave some time before it sinks under the ocean.

San Diego; I happen to concur with every Dem on this site that Florida is simply not a good state to live in.

Au contraire, it's a great state to live in if you just ignore our political affairs & everything that's affected as a result.

San Diego easily, and that won’t change even if Miami-Dade votes left of San Diego in the next election.

San Diego could swing hugely rightward and I'd still pick it over Miami.

Speaking as an ignorant, dumb foreigner, Miami seems as if it has a more distinctly identifiable and unique culture?

That's not how you use that expression but ok. In fact, that would apply more to the people who tried to kill Castro 638 times and his government is still in power.

It does, and that’s one reason I’d like to visit someday after COVID-19 is over. It’s also quite hot and humid there, for more of the year than the rest of the Lower 48 states. San Diego also gets kind of humid during the late summer, but the humidity there is nothing compared to most places east of the Rockies.

California’s taxes are too high so I’ll take Miami.
