Weird how he utterly refuses to formally join the party despite pledging to do so multiple times then.

Honestly, one of my biggest issues with Bernie is that he refuses to do this. It might seem like a trivial thing, but given Bernie’s large young following, it’s not. It reinforces the idea that “both sides” are bad and that proudly associating with the Democratic Party and identifying as a Democrat is somehow uncool or a concession to “the establishment.” In so doing, it weakens the power and unity of the Democrats relative to the Republicans, who are mostly in lockstep with each other and who are completely resolute and unapologetic about their party identity.

He could easily signal to his many devoted followers that there is nothing wrong with being a Democrat, that it’s a big tent party that people should feel welcome and happy to join and push for change from within if they so please. Even the likes of AOC have done that. But Bernie stubbornly refuses, and it’s honestly still a sore spot for me.

The Democrats have made it clear time and time again that they want nothing to with his wing of the party, sounds like he's just giving them their wish. They ed over Barbara Lee, they make consistent jabs at the the squad, sunrise, JD, etc. and obviously there's all the bad blood from 2016 where they lied about him being an athiest to get Hillary over the line in KY.

Pelosi was visibly angry when AOC was brought up in the 60 minutes interview they did a few weeks ago, there's so much bad blood between the progs and the establishment and it wasn't instigated by us. The progressives fall in line at every crucial turn and they still get dragged through the mud on pedantic sh**t like this that nobody who isnt extremely online even remembers.

Biden campaigned for Fred Upton in 2018 while Sanders hauled his ass across the country to do speeches for Dems that werent even in his wing of the party, it's a bad point buddy.

I too remember when Kasich voted against the Nineteenth. After all, unions never moved around teachers guilty of sexually assaulting their students, or made excuses for cop murderers, or called in the Blue Flu.
