Everybody acting like something will come from this when I know that nothing will.

Don't get me wrong, I have little doubt Trump has some shady stuff in his past and evidenced on his taxes.  But I am extremely skeptical that he'll see any kind of real punishment for it.  And regardless of any of it, he'll remain the leader of the GOP for the foreseeable future.

To me something already came from this. Trump was told "no" again. Even with his buddies in there. It's another slap in the face.

The walls are closing in on this shyster. That's a good thing. Combined with all the other lawsuits and problems that are circling him, trump has been adding more nails to his coffin daily. His life will never be the same again. The charade will end badly and he will be abandoned. You'll see.

Morally I’d rather he be imprisoned for attempting to overturn the election in Georgia than on some tax stuff, but so be it.

I don't really want to post this, but the fact that it's Trump's nemesis "fake news" Acosta doing Trump's work for him and posting his statement on Twitter is just too ironic. For all the abuse and hate that Trump gave Acosta (and more generally, to all the media), Acosta seems to be still loyal to his pocketbook first and thus can't quit Trump, even though he now has the opportunity to do so.

He still calls himself President. What a goon.

If Trump is indicted, the returns might become public.

I'm really surprised they haven't been leaked.

They've been handed over to the DA's office.

Fine, though they won't become part of the public record. At least until Vance officially indicts Trump as a result of the tax returns.

That the returns become public is more likely through various congressional committees that are investigating Trump and have filed lawsuits for the returns to be handed over to congress. If that happens, they will be published very soon.

He has always been the victim for 30 plus years. The most victimized "billionaire" in history. The product of never ever being wrong, or at fault, you see.

I have a strong feeling the DA is going to prosecute trump and his companies.

Its very much a possibility, though there is a history of reporting getting ahead of the legal situation and thus it is important to remain somewhat cautious in these matters.

I believe his crew dumped about a million pages on Vance.  Y'all might want to chill for several years.

There is a good thread from Renato Mariotti (a former federal prosecutor) on this topic.  He thinks, based on various developments, that there is definitely a "there there" for a criminal case (or at least Cy Vance believes there is) -- but that it will indeed likely be months to years before it all works out.

I wonder if the House or Senate will ask for Trump's tax returns.
