John Murtha getting a bit too extreme for his district? - http://www.humaneventsonline.com/article.php?id=15820&o=ENPR003

I'll say that it is very unlikely but weird things happen...

He's not in a 60+% for Bush district, nor does he have a top tier candidate who previously lost only by 500 votes.

No way. As Sam Spade has mentioned, even in a good Republican year Murtha's defeat would be highly unlikely. In a good Democratic year it is pretty much impossible.

Yes, his district is open to the possibility of electing a Republican, but Murtha has tremendous name recognigtion and money and his opponent has neither. Plus, I see no evidence that his popularity rating has dropped significantly among his constituents.

As has been mentioned by BRTD, Daschle was a completely different situation. He had a strong opponent, was in a very Republican state, and running in a good year for Republicans nationally. Murtha has none of these factors against him. Considering all of these things, Daschle actually did pretty well to only lose by as narrow a margin as he did; he got a lot of crossover Bush voters, just not quite enough to win.

I think at best Murtha's winning percentage will drop from its usual height, but not enough to defeat him.

It's unlikely, but we can hope.

No, despite the wishes of the insane warmongers on this board, Murtha will be re-elected.
