I saw Ford's speech at the 1992 GOP convention in Houston, the same night of Bush41's acceptance speech.  But I didn't get to see whom I really wanted to see: Reagan spoke the night before.

He's old!  Ford wasn't a bad guy and it is always sad to see more presidents go.  If he's gone, we will be down to Carter, Bush I, and Clinton, That's it!

I hope he's OK, but I think for his age he deserves to move on peacefully now.

doesn't seem to be too serious. Apparently, he's supposed to be released later today.

Tom Brokaw: Alright, alright.. "Tragedy today, as former President Gerald Ford was eaten by wolves. He was delicious." Now.. now, that's just superfluous, you know?

Voice of Producer: It's a former President, Tom. What do you say - he's not delicious?

He really needs to get over 100 but I doubt it will happen. Sad

If he lives until 94, he will surpass Ronald Reagan as the oldest president ever.

How long does he have to go for that to happen?

Wikipedia says November 12th.

Didn't Herbert Hoover live for something 30-40 years after he was President as well?

He died in 1964, 31 years after leaving office.

I hope he's OK, but honestly, it's his time to move on.  I just hate the way he's suffered so much recently.

I don't really know how much he's suffered.  From what I understand, he was still swimming in his pool and golfing occasionally pretty recently.

He probably leads a pretty quiet life, and hasn't had any real debilitating illnesses.  I'd say he's doing pretty good for a guy his age, and he's been very lucky in that respect.

When it's his time to go, God will take him.  I wish him only the best, in this life and in the hereafter.

Are you confusing him with Ronald Reagan?  As dazzleman says, Ford has been golfing and swimming somewhat regularly.

No, but I had heard he hadn't been doing so well after his last stroke--perhaps I'm wrong.  But in any case I wish him the very best.  He was misunderstood as President and he's a very good man.
