Given the vaccine is coming out soon , by late 2021 or early 2022 we likely will have moved passed coronavirus while the effects of 9/11 was arguably affecting us  until late 2017/early 2018

In the United States alone, there’s a 9/11 happening every day in terms of deaths and getting complications from the event itself that will lead to massive health bills for months to come. Entire savings have been wiped out or perhaps millions due to unemployment.

How exactly does 9/11 exceed this?

I'd argue that the complications will last for years to come, not just months. And I certainly do believe at this point that the pandemic has been a more significant event than 9/11. Coronavirus has taken over our lives-or we have allowed it to take over our lives-far more than even 9/11 did. 9/11 did not force schools online, or impose capacity restrictions on businesses, or result in the imposition of widespread quarantines, or cause millions of people to lose their jobs.

Yes objectively but in the subjective minds of many, especially boomers and some country folk, 9/11 will still be more important.

Too early to say. I don't think we'll be able to say for a year or more.

Update: Yes, this is more significant than 9/11.
