W Bush vs Gore again in 2004 after Gore wins Florida narrowly 4 years earlier. Who wins? Discuss with maps

I think Gore would have been reelected because of (1) a rally around the flag notion in post 9/11 era, (2) Gore handling foreign policy much better and (3) a better handling of the economy. Joe Lieberman is replaced on the ticket due to differences on foreign policy. Maybe he eyes a senate comeback in 2006. 2008 probably sees McCain or Romney elected.

✓ President Albert Arnold Gore (D-TN)/Senator John F. Kerry (D-MA): 289 EV. (50.81%)
Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)/Senator William Frist (R-TN): 249 EV. (47.34%)

I doubt that Bush would get the nomination for a rematch, but if he would, he would lose by a bigger margin. If he couldnt win the first time, people would not be excited to give him a chance now

Johnson's map with TN and FL to Gore. 327-211 win.

Johnson's map with TN and FL to Gore. 327-211 win.

Florida is a tough call, but I don't think Tennessee in 2004 would have gone Democratic at the presidential level. Regardless of incumbent president and homestate. Especially since Dubya was a very good fit for the South. I guess he would have won the state over Gore by mid single digits.

I will say that Romney or McCain wins in 2008.

Not to Obama real life levels, but still an obvious win

President Gore is reelected since his presidency would have been much more successful than W. Lieberman is dumped as VP. EC and NPV-wise, it looks similar to Obama's reelection:

✓ President Al Gore (D-TN)/General Wesley Clark (D-AR): 325 EVs.; 51.1%
Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)/Senator Mike DeWine (R-OH): 213 EVs.; 46.9%

Bush probably wins in '04

9/11 would have destroyed Gore.

9/11 would have destroyed Gore.

Based on what? I am 100% sure Gore would have handled 9/11 much better, if it even still happened at all.

I disagree with the concept that Lieberman is outright replaced on the ticket in 2004.

He'd actually be a very helpful surrogate in the wake of 9/11, especially if Gore does invade Afghanistan.

Anyways...

Al Gore/Joe Lieberman 49% 270 EV
George W. Bush/John McCain 48% 268 EV

I think the leftwing would force Gore to dump Lieberman for someone who has the base impassioned.

Bush picks Rumsfeld as his VP......

Fox News and Limbaugh would blame Clinton-Gore for 9/11, "Clinton spent time with his mistress instead of focusing on national security threats, etc."

2002 would have been bad for Dems, unless Gore really united America into 2004.

We would not have been at war with Iraq, that is a fact.
