He just won for the second time in a swing state Trump carried outperforming both Clinton/Biden in rurals and the suburbs.

Maybe. I'm not sure how charismatic he is though. Charisma and personality seems to be the most powerful force in politics nowadays, this election has proved that even with Biden's likely win. I don't think ideology even matters much.

I do agree though that Biden should retire after one term. I really don't think he did much wrong in this campaign, it seemed like the right one for the right time, but the disparate Democratic factions' unity is coming a part a bit, suburbanites were some weak tape holding it together to cobble together what is only a slight mandate to govern in our asinine system. But Biden will definitely be the last of the Clinton era Democrats. I don't know who his successor in 2024 should be-certainly Kamala Harris will be in the mix-but I expect another crowded primary and hopefully Democrats will pick the right person for the right time, and hopefully they'll be "exciting" enough since we live in a country full of shallow simpletons who only respond to that, even when the country is in one of the worst shapes of its history.

I mean, he would have won, but having a popular incumbent governor leave that office vacant meant turning a safe gubernatorial race into a tossup. There are plenty of people who could have won the Senate race, there aren't nearly as many who would have won the governorship.

I think Cooper checks some of the right boxes, but I think there are other things that we should be looking for.

Maybe, but I honestly have no idea how he'd do with a presidential run. It always seems like a crapshoot whether candidates who perform well in House/Gubernatorial/Senate races end up being good presidential candidates.

So Dems squeaked by while running an older, moderate, white male, and the proposed remedy is to...run an older, moderate, white male. I'll pass lol solid VP though.

Exactly this.

If Georgia ends up flipping for Biden, I think Stacey Abrams deserves to be at the top of the shortlist for 2024. She's not a conventional candidate, but conventional candidates have not been working out for Democrats.

I've actually dosed off while listening to him before.

You need to be both eloquent and likeable, Obama was both. He was a fantastic speaker and was a down to earth likeable guy. Biden is not eloquent and has gaffe issues, but he is likeable. Hillary was neither eloquent or likeable, which is why Obama won by a landslide, Joe Biden is on track for a decent  win, and Hillary lost. Corey Booker and Beto are both like Obama in that sense.
