Israel is the US's most valuable ally in the Middle East. Should the US support whatever Israel does and wants, regardless of circumstances?

No country should support whatever any other country does unconditionally.

If so, you might as well change your country name to Israel, because unconditionally means you’re putting their interests above the ones of your country.

Automatic alliances always suck, should be something based on issue to issue. On some things countries might be allies, on others rivals. I wouldn’t support even my mother if she happened to become a criminal or even my own country if it did something bad, imagine if I would excuse every single action from a foreign country.

I unconditionally think that "unconditional support" is bad.

In the same sense as the UK or Canada, the US' alliance with Israel should be largely unconditional barring any extreme unforeseen circumstances.

That shouldn't mean supporting everything it does unconditionally, but it should mean never allying with its enemies directly against it - militarily or diplomatically.

No two countries on Earth have identical interests, so no.

Unconditional support for another country has been a bad idea at least since Franz Ferdinand has been shot dead.

No, it is a foreign country regardless of what it does.

Should we unconditionally support their existence? Yeah. Should we unconditionally support every single thing they do? No, that’s ridiculous.

No, of course not. The U.S. should support basic human rights unconditionally, & thus recognize both the good & the bad before legitimately trying to advocate for peace on the basis of recognizing that understanding. Unfortunately, that'd be too nuanced an undertaking for the (too many) people who see Israel either as a purely good nation which we should unquestioningly support by providing them with unlimited amounts of financial & military aid, or a purely evil nation which we should cut off all aid to & let fend for itself, with no in-between whatsoever.
