Never say never but NIMBY-ism could almost account for about half of our country's current economic issues. The only opening could be that Trump shifting on that issue (using the tax code to discourage it to talking about "saving the suburbs") is that NIMBY-s can now be labeled as slightly racist. I find it doubtful that Democrats in blue states could be racist. I mean, they’re Democrats!

I'm hoping they're not, either. Either that or we just have to give up on doing anything about the environment. At least that's a reasonable argument. Not the best, mind you.

 It's a silly attack on Biden when the Obama/Biden energy policy expanded natural gas and hydraulic fracking as the bridge to renewable energy, which a lot of progressives were upset about. Fracking has been a big bust anyways, it's more expensive than advertised, dirtier, needs high oil prices to be profitable and is crushed by the Saudis and OPEC whenever they feel like manipulating their huge oil supply. It's definitely not the future of American energy.

I see plenty of problems with NIMBYs, none of them racism.  Maybe in the 1960s and earlier, when there was redlining and such.

Well, the eastern third or so of NM (the border being further west in the south and further east in the north) basically IS Far Western Texas, so I can’t foresee any issues. Just keep it away from Carlsbad Caverns.
