Campaign Launch in Louisburg, NC

Good afternoon, everyone! The people of this region honored me with the opportunity to serve twice as a Delegate and for a term as Governor. I announce my candidacy and return to political life today because I believe it is time we restore a people’s mandate in the House.
I say to you that our party is not one of radicalism but of common values, of federalism, of popular interests (of serving the people), and of public service with integrity. I was an active Governor and Delegate and I intend to serve honorably and actively in this new term as well. If I break this promise, I will not run for reelection. My beliefs straddle the left and right of the political spectrum, so I consider myself a moderate. I hold moderate views on some issues and conservative and liberal positions on others.
Balance, good government, a strong social safety net, and public responsibility are a true realization of the people’s will. We can and should have a strong social safety net while recognizing that we as a nation, have personal accountability, to our national debts. The debt problem, including that which is accrued due to appropriate pandemic-response measures, can in large part be paid back through economic growth. This is especially because our high debt-to-GDP ratio is reduced when the economy comes back and grows bigger than before. Additionally, economic progress means more tax revenue of which some can go toward national debts, and some can go toward social programs and cutting taxes, respectively.
If you support a common sense, Main Street, families first approach, please consider supporting my campaign. Thank you for coming out today!
