Thanks to a massive thunderstorm last night(it was loud enough to wake you up 3 times in a span of half and hour) , and the heavy rain that ensured our skies significantly cleared and while there is still smoke in the sky this morning you could see at least a partially blue sky for the first time since last Wednesday afternoon and the AQI has dropped into the low hundreds after being seemingly in the 300s for a long time (and in the Weekend even crossed 500) .

I dont think I have ever been this happy to see rain before

Great news, hope things get better! Yesterday, I read reports the red sky is even visible in Boston (!) because of the extreme amount of smoke in the atmosphere.

Yah this was how bad things have gotten: https://boston.cbslocal.com/2020/09/15/wildfire-smoke-forecast-map-california-oregon-massachusetts-boston-weather/

Though the massive Thunderstorms have resulted in lots of rain not in just the Portland area but in many of the areas affected by the fires too but the problem its so heavy those areas now have flash floods warnings

The thunder was probably the most intense thunder I've ever heard. I'm usually a pretty deep sleeper and don't get woken up by stuff like that but I woke up at 4 am and thought an explosion had happened.

But yeah it's finally nice to be able to go outside without it smelling like smoke.
