Potentially interesting. From what little I've read he doesn't seem to fetishise free marketism to the extent that most other Republicans do.

it’s an act

Quote
But Hawley’s supposed populism is betrayed by more than just his upbringing and achievements. For example, he was a vocal supporter of last year’s right-to-work amendment in Missouri, which was demolished by voters at the polls. During the Senate race, Hawley campaigned on his support of the Trump tax cuts, which is probably why the Club for Growth dumped $10 million into his coffers before he even officially entered the race.

HP, if it were do over elections, Landrieu, Pryor and McCaskill would win. Buyers remorse on the part of voters, Cassidy have subpar approval ratings.

Galloway, Cooney may still win their Gov races

He has the potential to be a more competent version of Trump should he win the White House. This means he could move the country in a more authoritarian direction without making as many people upset as Trump did.

I'm all in favor of a tough line on China/India with regard to "high skilled" immigrants, but you have to fix the American academic infrastructure that allowed a vacuum to exist in fields like medicine, engineering, technology, etc, and obviously high tuition that has frozen out Americans from attending American universities. Republicans are never interested in doing the hard part. Lean HP for now.

Could be very scary if he ever becomes more powerful. Definitely HP.

Hoping he turns out to be a Kamala-style nothingburger if he ever runs for President.

Tbf, Kamala ended up being made the running mate, which is pretty major. The more apt comparison would be Hawley turning out to be a Scott Walker-style nothingburger in the event that he ever runs.

Neutral ... don't get the hype, don't get the hate and definitely don't think he is an actual force for redistributionist economic policies in any way, shape or form.

He doesn't actually deviate from Republican orthodoxy in any actual way. Anyone left of center who thinks he's an FF is very confused

He may be an HP (I happen to think he is), but he definitely isn't an "empty suit" like Rubio or Harris.  Like him or not, he's made his ideological bed.
