Those of you who have been following the news may be aware that Bush both directly and through his intermediaries, has been trying to push Republicans in Congress into passing an amnesty for illegal aliens bill (he calls it a 'comprehensive immigration" bill).

I was told of the following new argument being made by the Bushies that if we don't have a 'guest worker' program, don't allow illegal aliens to remain in this country, and begin to really enforce laws on the books now against employing illegal aliens, such a course would be "inflationary."

According to this argument, without the presence of aliens, Americans at the lower end of the economic spectrum would require greater compensation and better working conditions, which would spur "inflation."

Now, I have no problem with American workers earning more and having better working conditions as a result of competition.

Don't think it would end up at $50 an hour (as McCain once alledged was the price for picking lettuce).
