Suppose the kids voting for the next Britney Spears on American Idol, 50 years from now, amend the Consitution to make presidential elections a real popularity contest.

Not only will it replace the Electoral College, since nobody knows the reason why it was created in the first place, voting will finally reflect candidate intensity as well just popularity, since votes will tabulated solely by the number of hits, recorded by IP address, on the candidate's website by the end of Vote Week.

This American Idol Amendment seems a lot fairer to me than some of the other popular-vote amendments being flouted around.

This is technologically impossible as it is, and I doubt it will be possible by then.

Even though they do it with primitive phonebanks, AI counts votes by such a method every week or so.

The only thing that concerns me is the possiblity of automated bots artificially driving up the hit counts for one candidate, but, overall, this still seems fairer a method, among the sh**tty replacements for the EC considered so far, than any of the "camp-out-in-new-york-city" popular vote amendments.

It's so stupid, I wouldn't doubt it being implemented.
