Given how bad the outbreak is there, are any people shocked and concerned by Trump continuing to do rallies there?

Not from Wisconsin but yes.
It’s hard for the elderly Trumpers to vote when they are in a hospital on a ventilator because they went to a superspreading nightmare.

It will help Trump because COVID cases are surging in spite of restrictions imposed by the Governor.

Didn't the GOP legislature get some/all of those restrictions overturned? I'm not that current on what's happening in Wisconsin.

Some, but not all of them.
Restrictions aren't helping apparently.

If seatbelts work, why do so many people die from car accidents?
Checkmate, liberals.

And yes it’s the WI GOP that has been blocking many of these measures.

Yeah I seem to remember them suing in the Supreme Court there and the Republican majority struck down restrictions.  And if that's not bad enough, Trump is coming in to seed the virus at some super spreader events.  Aren't normal non-Trump fanatics there disgusted and horrified by this?

WI person here. No, it won’t hurt Trump. All the elderly don’t care and think it’s a “little flu” and not a big deal. I live in Beaver Dam and I went to my local grocery store Saturday and maybe 25% of people are wearing masks, mostly younger people wearing them. It doesn’t help the WI GOP is f****ing stupid and telling people Evers is a dictator trying to take away your freedom. I drove up to Wausau today because my dad and I are going up to deer camp tomorrow and when I stopped at a gas station in Wausau, despite signs saying “MASKS REQUIRED IN THIS STORE” I was one of ~30% of people wearing one except for employees. Nobody is wearing masks here, and they think Covid isn’t a big deal.

Honestly, I apologize if this sounds crass, but at this point I’ve stopped caring about it (although I still wear my mask because I don’t want to have to quarantine and miss hunting season.) A lot of the case load is in the Green Bay/Fox Valley area and shifting into rural northern Wisconsin (Shawano, Oconto, Forest, Florence, and Marinette are getting hammered by this really hard, and to a lesser extent, Marathon, Langlade, and Calumet). These places are blood red and if they refuse to wear masks and spread Covid, I don’t feel sympathy. Again, sorry if that sounds rude, but I’ve seen so many maskless people call others “sheep” for wearing a mask I have stopped having sympathy.

You summarized some of my thoughts exactly.
I care if people who were taking precautions get sick and die, but anti-maskers...well it is what it is.

I know the usual Atlas pearl clutches will gasp at that, but these people really need to learn somehow, and I guess natural consequences are the only way they will listen.

Courts have been overturning these restrictions. Not to mention people are simply not following them in the first place.

“If a video is leaked of Trump saying the N-word it will be good for him because people like unfiltered politicians. If Trump strangles a baby at a rally it will be good for him because he is just showing the world what liberals do to fetuses. If Trump launched a nuclear attack on California it would be good for him because it will prove to swing voters that he has the balls to nuke China and North Korea. If Trump admitted to cheating on Melania with Ivanka it would show what a loving father he is and draw a lot of voters from Biden. If Trump loses to Biden it will be good for him because it means he can run against Harris in 2024 and win because he’s just so perfect I love him.”

Jesus, what is wrong with these people?  Don't they see how it's skyrocketing in the state?

You have to understand a lot of places in eastern/northeastern Wisconsin are heavily evangelical and VERY socially conservative. Almost Deep South levels of Republican support. Many places in Sheboygan, Dodge, Fond du Lac, and Calumet counties Democrats can’t even break 20% of the vote. Northwestern Wisconsin is more Scandinavian and less evangelical. Everybody in Madison is wearing masks, but nobody in eastern/northeastern Wisconsin is.

Is that mainly a difference between areas of primarily Scandinavian descent vs German descent?

Yes; the Driftless area is rather Scandinavian, and there’s a large Scandinavian population in the Lake Superior Counties. By comparison, going from Washington County up to Oconto County is primarily German Catholics and evangelical Lutherans. There is a region known as the Holyland in eastern Fond du Lac, western Sheboygan, and southern Calumet counties that are old German Catholic communities that vote over 80% R.

Also, nobody is self-quarantining. Here’s an article from Wausau:

Dane County shutting down High School Football will affect more votes than covid. There are very low numbers, percentage wise, of undecided voters left here.

Biden by at least 4 here has been my prediction for months. Nothing has changed.
