This Thread inspired me to look up the list of elected libertarian office holders on the L P website. I am amazed at the number of partisan offices held by Libertarians. Granted, a lot of them are BS Constable or inspector of Elections positions which are Waverly contested, plus a number of Township auditor racist which I'm guessing don't draw a huge slew of contested races either. Still, I've got tons of people actually elected under the libertarian party Banner, far far more compared to other state parties oh, so I probably got to give it to them.

Worst State party? How about maybe Alaska or New Hampshire which, despite having libertarian party strength in the past, and despite their State houses having among the lowest voter / seat ratio in the country - - obviously particularly New Hampshire - - they still haven't been able to elect a single person to the state legislature? Possibly runner-up status on that basis to Wyoming and Montana.

Tough to crack the two party system in even State Legislative races, but in New Hampshire that's practically Unforgivable..

He was elected as a Republican and served one term.

Wyoming: Libertarian Bethany Baldes in 2018 in a 2-way race lost to the State House Majority Leader by 53 votes. Of election day voters she actually won by ~1900 votes. The State House Majority Leader had to get victory after absentee votes were counted. I know Baldes is running again this year.

Yeah, this was in Riverton Lander area in Fremont County IRC. This race captured my attention. I looked up everything I can find online but can never find any reason how this Republican institutions that such a serious challenge. Especially when apparently the libertarian candidate was endorsed by a whole bunch of Republican officials in the county. Again, I can never find any Scandal or particular controversial vote being coming in cast to cause such ire.

That said, as far as the Wyoming libertarian party goes, it appears to have been a pure fluke based on small-town parochial politics.

To answer seriously: the IN and NM LPs tends to be run rather well and overperform, so they're definitely toward the top. The AK and NH LPs tend to overperform, although they have had some infighting and haven't always been as well run. The NV and KY LPs have had good organization in recent years, but not as much in terms of results.

Worst LPs are almost certainly OR and FL. Completely dysfunctional.
