I personally think so, not in rural areas alone, but in some cities. If law and order is a popular technique, then yes. But Rizzo was too racist, in my opinion.

I could see a Rizzo type winning in Staten Island or parts of Long Island or maybe Macomb County, but not in many other places. His brand of politics was "urban White ethnic backlash machine". Not something that has traction in rural areas.

Bronz really needs to stop living in the past.

I'm not living in the past, you are underestimating some suburban whites and ethnic whites' silence--the silent majority.

A lot of young white men in their 20s have some of Rizzo's ideology, debunking the notion that every millennial is progressive.

I don't underestimate them and I have acknowledged that there are certain suburbs that trend Democrat and Republican. Republicans do better in suburbs and metropolitan areas that are not as diverse, have lower than average bachelor degree rates, with stagnant population and economic growth. That's your Macomb, Lake, and places in south Nassau and St Louis counties.

So I would yes that people in these areas will be persuaded by the policies and style of someone like Frank Rizzo. A lot of these people are angry and hold resentment against not only Minorities who they blame for their economic disadvantage but also the majority-white elites who look down on them.

Yes, but Rizzo while in office was a democrat. Which is what Bronz is really asking: would Democrats go for this type of guy? The answer is obviously no, because the parties have changed. Certainly in GOP areas the GOP would elect GOP mayors who are against the diverse cities.

This is why I constantly say Bronz loves to live in the past, often looking back on the heydays of Northeastern white-flight based politics. I mean, he once mistakenly thought a white gerrymander'ed senate seat in Bronx and Westchester was a near tossup, despite is voting 75%+ for all democratic presidents in recent memory. Why? Because he lives in the past.

If you're talking a racist urban white ethnic Democrat, then probably not many places left. All the white ethnic enclaves of cities have had three things happen to them.

1. White flight, more difficult to control in a machine
2. They become Republicans as the GOP does better with racist voters
3. Those urban enclaves have now gentrified and/or become more minority-populous (Southwest Chicago, South Boston, etc)

So, the answer is no.

Yes, in the areas mentioned above (and sometimes - even with Democratic candidates). But - not many...

Lmao when did any of these suburban counties become “disadvantaged“? Nassau, Suffolk and Richmond counties have household incomes well above the national median (In SI it’s higher than the other 4 boroughs despite how it is characterised on this forum). Lake and Macomb counties also have household incomes above the national median, though to a lesser degree.

From reading posts on this forum you’d think these Obama-Trump suburban counties are relic industrial wastelands from the 19th century.
