https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/25/us/politics/coronavirus-red-blue-states.html

This was an interesting piece in the NYT that talks about how coronavirus has hit the blue areas the hardest thus far in the pandemic, and therefore, Democrats tend to be more cautious in the actions they take. Could Trump use this to his advatnge in the 2020, by just giving a middle finger to all of the blue areas that were hit super hard that won't vote for him anyways, only causing more divisons and getting his rural base riled up? If you live in a rural community where you don't know anyone who's been infected, and aren't concerned about getting infected yourself, you are more likely to be questioning the benefit of the stay at home orders. The fact is that Republicans tend to live in rural areas where it's just harder to get infected, since you're coming into contact with less people on a daily basis, and even common areas in the community are just less dense. Even the economic consequences will likely hit blue areas the hardest; I can't see how they will open NYC anytime soon. Anyways, what impact could this divide over how hard places have been hit by the virus have on the 2020 election?

Mostly because Democrats live in urban areas, where transmission is easier than anywhere else.

What? Republicans have been consistently downplaying coronavirus long before it became clear how much more it would impact urban areas.

I know you're mocking, but if Trump wins FL, WI or MI by a few thousand votes it'll probably be because of the virus.

Urban areas aren't 100% populated by Dems, and cons seem to be the ones ignoring all safety precautions.

That's a fairly obvious headline. More densely populated places in the country naturally have a higher infection rate. But to fear-monger about Democratic votes dying off ignores those in Democratic states who will probably turn out in higher numbers (if they can) to rebuke this administration for doing so little to aid in the health and safety of people who are still his own citizens, even if they didn't vote for him. And that's what it comes down to: this virus has affected Democratic municipalities and states more, therefore there is less urgency by this administration to address it. But he and his party just plain don't care! It's despicable and completely ignores how this virus' ease of spreading can still affect Republican-friendly areas when it spreads from Democratic areas, especially as restrictions in them are easing. We're all in this together, but Trump and the GOP prefer not to acknowledge that. They'll learn the hard way hopefully, in the only way they ever do, with electoral defeat.

Makes sense given their policies.

Its exaggerated, but Trump had nothing to offer anyways, but more tax cuts for the wealthy. While Entitlement reform aside from Obamacare needed to be supported by tax increase on the 1%

Water is wet. Seriously why is this even a headline? Democrats live in areas where there is more international travel and higher population density.
