I realize that the South African President will not exactly welcome what I have to say, but that point of this trip is to bring the issue out in the open and try to get South Africa to finally recognize this.

I apologize for being absent on these things, but the Budget took me a ton of time to put together and I haven't had time to write articles.

Therefore, I'm just going to give answers without articles for this once:

Press Release

For too long have the people of Belarus suffered.  I fear that the coming election, like the last few, will not be fair.  President Lukashenko, who had term limits removed to run again, will again probably not be allowing the opposition parties full rights.  More agressive action must be taken.  I will be traveling to the UN to ask the Security Council to impose sanctions against this nation until full rights are given.  The last dictatorship in Europe must allow their people basic rights.  Furthermore, I will petition the EU and CIS to put pressure on President Lukashenko.

The UN is not interested right now in pursuing economic or military sanctions.  France and England are in favor, Russia and China are not.

They will agree to send ambassadors to Belarus to try and pursuade Lukashenko to hold freer elections and give his citizens more rights.

The EU is willing to put economic and military sanctions on Belarus, in combination with Atlasia..  The CIS is willing to send ambassadors to Belarus, but is not willing to put sanctions (economic or military) on Belarus.

This upcoming weekend I shall be making a trip to South Africa.

I plan on meeting with President Thabo Mbeki to talk mainly about AIDS prevention in both his country and in all of Africa.  I will speak in front of the South African Congress in Cape Town.  Also, if President Republic signs the Foreign Aid Reduction bill, I will restructure the foreign aid to include a significant amount of AIDs funding.  I will ask for President Mbeki's suggestion on how much is needed.

As a reminder, the International Assistance Programs budget has been cut by over $10 billion FY 2006, from over $17 billion to $7 billion, including $7 billion in across-the-board cuts.

The President of South Africa says that under your present budget, at least half of your foreign aid should be going to AIDS funding, if not more. (present AIDS funding is $1.45 billion in FY 2006, barring the cuts mentioned above).

He also says that the cuts to foreign aid enacted by the Atlasian government in FY 2006 are intolerable and that the whole of the budget should be restored so that more moneys can be given to AIDS funding in Africa.  He is ashamed by the actions of the Senate and the President towards cutting foreign aid to help needy countries like his.

Atlasia already has full sanctions on this nation, so we would like to encourage the EU to do the same.

The EU General Assembly will meet in a few weeks to discuss the subject.

Ok, I don't think I realized how hard it is to divvy up 7 billion dollars of aid.  So, to help me, I'd like th form the Foreign Aid Distribution Council.  Basically, I just want some people to help me with this huge task.  This would be a three member council composed of myself, a Senator with considerable foreign policy knowledge (Jake maybe?), and one other citizen of Atlasia (John?).  If you're interested, tell me.

Ooh, I don't really know.  The bill was passed last year so. . .Just remember, I probably won't finish it for a couple weeks, so you can decide.

Press Release

The State Department is saddened by Hamas winning a majority in the Palestinian legislature election.  Since it is Atlasia's policy not to negotiated with terrorists, we will not negotiate with Hamas, and in turn the Palestinian government, until two things happen.  First, Hamas must recognize the right of Israel to exist and the two state proposal.  Second, Hamas must declare that it will stop all suicide bombings.

Press Release

The State Department is extremely unhappy with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's decision to buy 1 million arms to "protect his country from invasion".  The US has no intent of invasion or assassination.  We would like to work with President Chavez to resolve this dispute, but feel this is impossible because of the President's unwillingness to work with Atlasia.

On a different note, the first draft of the foreign aid distribution will be available in the next couple days.

Very unfortunate. It's time the Republic administration grows a pair.

A world conference on the situation in Iraq will be held from December 20-23.

All G8 nations are invited plus any other nation wishing to attend that has a vested interest in democracy in Iraq.  This conference will be held at Camp David, and President Joe Repubic will be attending some of the high level meetins.

Also, SAM LOOK HERE, LOOK, PUT THIS IN THE NEWS, LOOK Smiley

I am going to put it in the news.  However, because of logistic constraints (not my own, this is a little real-life put in), the conference will be unable to happen until the week of January 8 (January 10-13, if you want it to be Tuesday through Friday).

Also, the meeting will either be with G8 countries (maybe China also) or our closest allies in the conflict (including Poland and Denmark).  I have put it as the G8 countries in the article, but that can change.

Your choice.

Actually, let me clarify that.  You can have a world summit, with over 30 countries there, but that will not be able to happen till mid-February.

Thought I should add that, sorry.

Sam, just reminding you, this is coming up soon.

However, because of the actions in Iran, the negative world reaction and the lack of any executive speak on it, only 5 countries are not boycotting the world summit as we speak.

Press Release

Let me just make it clear that the neither the State Department nor the Government of Atlasia support the actions of Mr. DanielX in his endeavour to topple the Iranian government.  He had no permission from Atlasia to do this, nor did he receive any funding, ammunition, weapons, or any other materials.  Iran is a sovereign nation.  Even though Iran and Atlasia may disagree on some issues, there is still no right for us to invade.  Once again, the government of Atlasia in no way supports Mr. DanielX's invasion of Iran.

P.S. On a side note for the GM, I thought DanielX's whole thing was a joke, so I would have responded earlier if I knew you were going to make it into an actual story.

I didn't know I was going to make it into an actual story until it turned into a fairly good idea.

Besides, it is not that unrealistic; the CIA has tried to pull manuevers like this before, albeit with much more success typically.

Anyway, your press release is duly noted.  Because of this, at least the Russian ambassador will return.

I'm more curious about the President's response, however.

Press Release

The State Department is now working to contact the Azerbaijani government to try to bring those who tried to topple the Iranian government back to Atlasia.  Atlasia will not let dissidents ruin our credibility in the international community.  We urge the Azerbaijani government to immediately hand over Mr. DanielX and his followers.

I just wanted to let you know that I will be gone from Thursday thru Sunday this upcoming week.  Also, on a more important note, I have decided to not continue to serve as Secretary of State.  I officially resign, effective whenever Ebowed is inaugurated.  I have already informed the President-elect of my decision.
