Let me start by saying nothing went wrong this weekend, absolutly nothing. The system that we have is working fine, some people just can't stand some negativity and that will never change to matter if we start over or not.

There are a few changes that should be made though. A vote for candidate X should be a vote for the ticket X/Y, that's pretty obvious. Another thing is that regions really need to remove any positions except Governor and Lt. Governor and maybe Justice. Though the Lt. Gov. could be the Justice, or better yet, let the Supreme Court decide all cases. Give them something to do instead of sitting around forever.

So in conclusion, nothing went wrong and Atlasia is not dying and nothing drastic needs to be changed. You people are all overreacting and letting your feelings cloud your judgement. Nothing major is wrong, so just calm down and let us finish this election. If the John Ford/True Democrat ticket wins then True Democrat will take the seat if he wants, if not then it would go to the Ebowed/Q ticket.

My suggestion, stop overreacting and go back to what it was yesterday because NOTHING WENT WRONG!

Exactly.  I remember similar stuff happening in October - what with West Atlasia, people resigning, etc.  It's all unnecessary.  In a week we'll probably have returned to normalcy.

Nothing went wrong people, a candidate just dropped out in the middle of voting.

I pretty much agree with you, MJ, nothing went wrong except for Ford deciding to leave, and that can’t be changed whatever we do, but that’s no reason not to discuss some possible reform, as long as no one is demanding anything.  Nixon’s right, every Presidential election some new scandal happens and everyone freaks, so I think his idea of getting rid of the public election of the President deserves some looking into, and I’m gonna do just that.  That doesn’t mean I support it, I’m not going to decide that until we got some discussion going, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea, either.

Anyway, I can’t see what having less Regional positions has to do with any of this, but maybe I missed something.

Nah, a lot of things were going wrong before that.  Ford dropping out didn't start the problem, it just was the last straw that finally caused all of the bundled up hatreds, rivalries, and fueds to unravel.

These hatreds and rivalries have probably been here for ages.  This is probably the time Atlasia suffers by getting less new registrations, because if they read a few threads they'll see all of the melodrama and people seriously asking what the problem is just because someone dropped out.

Nothing went wrong with the system for elections. Alot is wrong with the governing of the nation and with the overall atmosphere of these boards.

I agree with you there although I believe that this has been around from the beginning.

This reminds me of the events that a year before now transpired on this same forum. Every election since February 2005 there has been a major lamenting by Atlasians about the state of the "country" or that new things need to be done or Atlasia isn't fun anymore. I remember people like Hugh telling me in December of 2004 that it wasn't fun anymore. So you know what I think this is? More of the same.

Every election, every frickin' election, people begin to decry that this is the downfall of Atlasia or that the system is horrible tarnished or the atmosphere is hazardous to polite dealings which tells me that there isn't anything wrong with Atlasia but there is alot wrong about people's perceptions of the game and people's attitudes. Almost all of the problems within this nation stem from human nature and the nature of politics itself not Atlasia.

Anyone else notice how nobody thinks anything is wrong until the Presidential election? Everything is fine up until the actual voting starts and then people just forget what's true that they've known for the last 4 months. -_-

I think some parts have got less fun and more complicated, but people seem to flip out here over little stuff
