I have a few questions about Northwestern Wyoming. I know Wyoming is super red because it’s white, rural, and full of oil, cattle, and coal. I also know that the Jackson Hole area is growing in population and is quite liberal compared to the rest of the state, and Jackson is quite expensive to live in. For purposes of my questions, I’m referring to Park, Teton, Lincoln, Sublette, and northwestern Fremont county.
1) Why is this region of the state seeing large population growth (by WY standards)? Alpine is growing, as is Teton County and Park.
2) Who’s moving in here? It looks to me to be young people, but I’m not sure?
3) Are these areas trending long term Democratic? In Lincoln, for example, Trump got 76% compared to Romney’s 83% (though Clinton got 12.5 to Obama’s 15). In Teton, Clinton won 58-31 compared to 54-42 in 2012.

These places are seeing population growth because they offer a large amount of natural amenities (i.e., skiing, mountain biking, hiking) along with pristine Rocky Mountain vistas.  NW Wyoming is Yellowstone National Park, after all.

Jackson Hole specifically is an elite, mountain resort community.  The Jackson Hole Airport has seasonal direct, daily service to JFK, LAX, SFO, SEA, ORD, and EWR, among others.  Therefore, a lot of people moving/living there are either retired/semi-retired business or tech executives and the associated young and/or Hispanic service-sector employees working in resorts.

Lincoln County's leftward swing in 2016 was in no small part because the county, like Uinta County, is plurality LDS. Park County is far less Mormon and more tied to Yellowstone tourism.
