It doesn't help. The market is crashing because there is so much uncertainty around the economic impact of a virus that is not slowing down. It could very well push the world into a global recession. The market won't remain down if the economy keeps growing into November.

Make no mistake, Trump and the Fed will do whatever they can to pump markets up, whether it's worth liquidity injections or rate cuts. However, I do not see what a rate cut will do to stop the cause of this problem. We don't have a liquidity problem.

Fed needs to cut some rates. If all else fails, we'll end up with Bernie Sanders as president to fix this mess.

He probably gets blown out and lose all the swing states (yes including Florida and Texas and North Carolina), and it won’t necessarily be his fault, although his admin’s incompetence will probably be the death knell (like the HHS people not having training).
