This timeline is a based on the results of my previous "What if Gore won?" topics/polls.

2000: Instead of Joe Lieberman, Al Gore selects Florida Senator Bob Graham as running mate. Gore wins Florida and as result the whole election.

2001: 9/11 takes place. President Gore attacks Afghanistan and the Taliban government is brought down.

2003: President Gore does NOT attack Iraq as Bush did in our timeline. Saddam Hussein is still in charge.

2004: John McCain emerges as the winner of the Republican presidential primaries. He picks Rudy Giuliani as his running mate for the upcoming election.

Roy Moore might very well run.

Moore would run or someone of the ilk would run.  No way the Southern Republicans  would stand for a McCain/Guliani ticket

McCain would win this matchup.

However, I'm not sure that Gore would have won FL with Graham rather than Lieberman. In fact, I believe Lieberman was responsible for Gore coming as close in FL as he did. Lieberman did a lot of campaigning in FL was very popular among the substantial population of Jewish retirees in the southeast of the state.

I would vote for Roy Moore/Zell Miller: American Party if they were up there.

if there are no third parties and McCain and Giuliani are as popular as they are now I'd say it'd look like this.

McCain/Giuliani 364
Gore/Graham 174

I'd give Maine-2, West Virginia, and Iowa to McCain.

Oregon, Michigan, and Minnesota might be tossups.

Giuliani wouldn't be on the ticket, it ould be a moderate southerner.

Not that I can think of any moderate GOP southern politicians...
