I've struggled with this in the past. I really hope she gets the help she needs.

It should be noted that she's not retiring or resigning, but just taking a leave of absence to focus on her treatment.

SnowLab takes literally every piece of news to be evidence towards the death of the Democrats. Ignore him.

Serious credit for this.

Lots of politicians would have tried to ignore it, quietly resign or allow it to cause major shortfalls in there behaviour- much like with Kander stepping back due to PTSD I think we're slowly getting to a place which treats politicians like ordinary people who are still working.

This thread would look very different if she were a Republican man.

A republican man probably would've hid it.

First of all, no, the entire forum was very respectful when Tom Garrett retired on account of the very same thing.

Second of all, f**k off.

This thread would look very different if she were a Republican man.

A Republican man would have driven drunk, caused an accident and then blame Nancy Pelosi for driving him to drink on account of impeachment.

That's why it's a tossup now. If she doesn't retire or resign, she could very well lose due to this scandal.

How is this a "scandal"? Was she charged with a DUI? Did she beat a loved one in a drunken rage? Did she pull a Susanna Martinez and leave a scandalous voicemail on someone's receiver? As far as we know, no. She's being honest about her problem and she's committing herself to recovery. I fail to see how that would lose her a Clinton district.

Makes you wonder what other skeletons there are that folks in office are hiding. Props to her for admitting it. I'm glad she's getting the help that she needs, & I wish her well.
