Landrieus fighting back. 16%+ Approval. Over 50%. Concerns that she is still at 40%. But while Vitter continues to hide behind his desk and Mary goes to Holland to see the best type of systems to prevent another flood hopefully the republicans will use their brain for once and realize what a quality senator they have.

Good news:  Burns is dropping like a rock.  Santorum remains one of the least popular senators.

Bad news:  Talent is on the rebound.

Not really. His approval actually dropped a point and his ratings overall are pretty stable:

Highest approval ratings for Senators seeking re-election:

Snowe, ME
Nelson, NE
Conrad, ND
Hutchison, TX
Lugar, IN

Looks like Nelson and Conrad are safe if the GOP can't recruit a decent candidate.

Lowest approval ratings for Senators seeking re-election:

Burns, MT
Santorum, PA
Kyl, AZ
DeWine, OH
Talent, MO

All Republicans. Surprised to see Kyl. Do the Dems have a shot at winning AZ?

Things keep getting better for Obama. He even has a 20% net approval rating among Reps.

Not really.  If they had an outstanding candidate, there would be an outside chance, but Pederson is... not an outstanding candidate.

That's interesting.  I thought that his amazing showing across the board during his campaign was supposed to be wrong, or only temporary, or whatever?

His good showing among Republicans may also be due to the fact that he does not favor an immediate withdrawal from Iraq, and in fact supports President Bush's policy of withdrawing our troops only as the Iraqi government puts into the field more and better-trained military and police forces to replace them -according to the Meet the Press segment I watched this past Sunday.

Apparently it didn't hurt his approval ratings among Democrats either....

Even Feingold doesn't support an immediate withdraw.

I wish these threads would not always degenerate into squabbling as well as diverging from the topic.  As a Democrat I am very happy to see Conrad Burns and Rick Santorum tanking.  Its so annoying that voters' gave Martinez and Bunning the benefit of the doubt in 2004, we can't get at them until 2010.

Amen.  The constant squabbling is the main point that puts me off this forum.

As far as the approval ratings....everyone I'd like to trend down is.  I hope those trends continue for the next ten nine+ months.

As long as Pederson gets greater than 40% of the vote I'll be happy...

He needs to rough Kyl up enough so that by 2006 Congressman Gabrielle Giffords can take him out.

Actually, they're safe as long as the GOP can only recruit candidates that are merely decent, know what I mean?
