These guys are true brownshirts -note the real reason for why they now mock Trump:

‘A Total Failure’: The Proud Boys Now Mock Trump
Members of the far-right group, who were among Donald Trump’s staunchest fans, are calling him “weak” as more of them were charged for storming the U.S. Capitol.

Quote
The comments are a startling turn for the Proud Boys, which for years had backed Mr. Trump and promoted political violence. Led by Enrique Tarrio, many of its thousands of members were such die-hard fans of Mr. Trump that they offered to serve as his private militia and celebrated after he told them in a presidential debate last year to “stand back and stand by.” On Jan. 6, some Proud Boys members stormed the U.S. Capitol.

But since then, discontent with Mr. Trump, who later condemned the violence, has boiled over. On social media, Proud Boys participants have complained about his willingness to leave office and said his disavowal of the Capitol rampage was an act of betrayal. And Mr. Trump, cut off on Facebook and Twitter, has been unable to talk directly to them to soothe their concerns or issue new rallying cries.

Quote
“When Trump told them that if he left office, America would fall into an abyss, they believed him,” Arieh Kovler, a political consultant and independent researcher in Israel who studies the far right, said of the Proud Boys. “Now that he has left office, they believe he has both surrendered and failed to do his patriotic duty.”

Bound to eventually happen. They want a fascist strongman who breaks democracy and if the guy they support fails to give it to them, they’ll abandon him and look for someone worse.

They, like Pence, and everyone around Trump who thought they could use him as a vehicle for their own goals, finally found out that Trump has no principles and no loyalty to anyone but himself.

Wow! It just keeps getting worse for Trump! He is losing everyone and everything. Even people as unexpected as the Proud Boys. Keep it coming!

This is precisely as I said a week ago:

From having seen how Republicans have behaved in the past, my guess is that they will remember him as being "too moderate" and "not a true Conservative." They will say that "he failed to seize power, I don't like people who fail to seize power, I like people who successfully seize power."

And so they will in the future support someone even worse, crazier, and more dangerous.

Over the next 2-4 years, I fear this will become the standard GOP line regarding Trump.

Yep, just wait for Trump 2.0 in 2024 only competent and more authoritarian.

They should, but I doubt they will.

Too late! That was never capable of happening with Trump as the party's standard-bearer. Is Karl Rove really that deluded about how much of a role he played in promoting the Tea Party and its inevitable future devolution into groups like the Proud Boys?

This is the same story with every element that supported Trump, including mainstream Republicans like Mitch McConnell btw.  They are happy to be bedfellows with Trump as long as he's in power and has control over him.  They don't actually like, care, or respect Trump.  They're all opportunists and dirtbags.  So it's no surprise that the second Trump is out of power they are all turning on him.  Now the GOP is saying they want these people out.  Too late, those people are your people, that's all you have left.

How brave to come out and declare this the day Trump leaves office.

F*** you Karl Rove.

This is probably because they broke the masturbation oath and are now experiencing post-nut clarity.

75 million people are accepting of having a bigot as president.

There is a Venn diagram that can analyze the significant chunk of whom are in fact bigots versus those who are merely soft on bigotry and reflect it in their votes.

A good chunk of the 81 million, too.

Trump voters? No, not a very high opinion at all. I believe the history of the last 4 years fully supports this judgment.

And no, I quite justifiably am dismayed that 75 million people could, for any reason whatsoever, bring themselves to vote for someone so manifestly and completely unfit for the office of President.

Where does the 75 million figure keep coming from?  Trump got 74.2 million votes.  That doesn't round to 75.

The Republicans were pleased as punch to embrace the crazies when it suited their needs.  Now they disavow them because that too suits their needs.

75 is 3/4ths so I presume it sounds better or something.
