The threat of Nazism in America today is very real. So why isn't there a permanent committee in Congress to investigate anti-American activity like this?

Liberals crushed it.  It was the House Un-American Activities Committee.  It was changed to the House Internal Security Committee in the 1970s, but that wasn't enough to save it after revelations about the FBI and CIA spying on citizens.

It was a committee that deserved disbanding.

There's no way to make sure it remains objective and goes after actual threats so the reality is it would be nothing but yet another congressional tool to go after political opponents, as it was in the 50s.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm alluding to and I completely agree.

Please explain the rationale behind this statement.

Individual outrages that come seemingly out of nowhere, and unpredictably. The core problem is the disaffected people who fail to recognize the value of human life in people who look unlike themselves.

Such a committee would be perceived as “witch-hunting”, “antifa”, “political correctness”, etc.

I would expect an investigation if there were signs of organization in recent attacks and etc.

Pretty much all that we have seen has been lone wolf type stuff, and any small groups like the ones that organized the Charlottesville rally are extremely small and irrelevant.

How many "isolated incidents" does there have to be?

As many as there is until there's evidence of actual organization.

What is your point? You want the government to launch a federal investigation over the running over of some woman, by a person who was almost immediately apprehended? All because muh feelings?

I find it hard to justify calling a bunch of uncoordinated basement-dwellers lashing out at society "a very real threat to America." I can think of at least fifty things that we should worry about more than this.

Clearly all fascists need to be indiscriminately rounded up, sent to prison, and reeducated.

Such people are so irrelevant that they often find themselves connecting to a loathsome ideology. Such people try to make themselves relevant... and they become criminal terrorists in the process.

Why can't they find something worthy of human virtue?

1. No. Just like HUAC, it would turn out to be a disaster that becomes nothing more then TV and persecution (and this is for both an anti commie and an anti Nazi committee).

2. Lol imagine thinking Nazism is a real threat in America today. The only real threat is the socialism which is being openly called for by our politicians, and which voters must reject. Until wearing a Che shirt is viewed with the same disgust as wearing a Hindenburg shirt, until wearing a hammer and sickle pendant is viewed the same way as a swastika, we are still not doing enough to understand and comprehend the horrors of communism. Better dead than red.

Apparently, it would seem, the answer is just two. El Paso and Tree of Life. Name me one other mass attack (ten or more people killed)  that took place in America at the hands of the fash.

I find it disturbing when even a single Democrat is in favour of restarting HUAC.
