There are also some D primary numbers

O’Rourke (who is not running) leads with 58% ; without O’Rourke West is leading the field.

Well, this race is over if General Eric Democrat can't lead a no-name incumbent

Beto should change his mind and run. He's easily the candidate with the best chance of winning.

The way Beto was mocked by the GOP,  he wont change his mind and Cornyn, will have a tougher time against Heger or Ramirez,  two females, finding their weakness

The numbers in the poll indicate that Cornyn would crush any candidate not named Beto O'Rourke. I'm not sure why you think Hegar or Ramirez would close a 10+ point gap just by virtue of being female.

That's today, with Biden or Sanders, TX is a battleground and Beto was running 10 points behind Cruz at this time.

Imagine if O'Rourke and Bullock had decided to be less egotistical and run for Senate back in February.

Cornyn, like Trump, is getting the same amount of support against every Democrat. It is worrying though that of the candidates running there is so little shape to the race. This is the earliest primary, I don't know what these candidates are waiting for (especially Hegar, who has money).

I don't know. I think this would make him look like a desperate officeseeker who will just run for any job currently available. He should have stayed out of the presidential contest and launch another senate bid this spring when the iron was hot.

Cornyn has gotten pretty lucky (so far), but I don’t buy that he’ll outrun Trump by more than 1-2% even against a "weak candidate." Like Peters and Daines, he’s certainly not a "weak" incumbent per se but laughably overrated on this forum.

I think it's possible he could run up the score against Royce West, especially. (IMO the most likely nominee) The party will consider West DOA and triage the campaign, so he'll have basically no resources.

Cornyn does pretty similarly in all these polls, and Beto getting closer is probably just higher name recognition. Cornyn probably does win but by single digits for sure and it could easily be competitive.

Race is competitive, but 2020 is not the time when Democrat will win statewide election in Texas. It'll be 2024 or 2028.

Now it'll end like 55% - 45% for Cornyn.
