Absolutely. And it keeps getting worse. The number of farmers in the United States today is fewer than in 1950, but the number of employees in the Department of Agriculture is greater.

We should simply abolish most of the Cabinet and return power to the states.

Its money that could be better spent on deficit reduction or a squadron of B-2s. Tongue

Or money that could be spent on not only reducing the debt, but but education or affordable health care.

I'd rather keep the department if you're going to do that.

So, you'd rather keep the department going than give an education to someone, or help a family who can't afford basic health coverage?

Really, no heart Phillip? Or is it just the fact that the government would pay for it in some way that drives you ape-sh**t?

You have to understand, Cynic, that people like Philip have a completely unrealistic view of how society works.   They look at a world where the 99% are slaves of the 1%, and call it 'freedom'! Wink

It's not as if abolishing the department would mean abolishing the department's employees's jobs. They'd just be under different departments. That's how reality works.
