Tankie = HP. There is no such thing as a tankie who isn't reprehensible trash just as there is no such thing as a Nazi or alt-right that isn't.

A fellow Stuttgarter, Freedom fighter. I don't agree with him on a number of issues, but a good poster.

Please desist from making such threads without having at least a glance at my posting history.

I am not a tankie. I hate the CCP. I stated my dislike for the Hong Kong Protesters solely because I support Chinese unity and integrity and they do not. I support the legitimate Chinese Government, which is the one in Taipei, not the impostor Government in Peking. My criticism of the CCP and those that support them has been consistent:

We have had rallies in Melbourne and Vancouver by Australians and Canadians of Chinese Origin supporting "their Countrys" - China, that is - response in Hong Kong.
This is disloyalty, plain and simple.

Taiwan and the mainland, are, by any way that one can define a nation, historically, culturally, ethnically one. They are two states, but one nation. There is absolutely nothing wrong with basing ones State and its national identity entirely on political grounds. That is what Taiwan is. Taiwan is Taiwan not because it is a separate nation like Korea or Japan are. Taiwan is Taiwan because they are the last parts of the Chinese nation that are ruled by democracy. And Taiwan itself acknowledges that. It is why it is called the Republic of China.
In Chinese there are precisely for this reason two words to define Chinese:
Zhongguo (中国), that means being Chinese in the political term.
and
Zhonghua (中华), that means being Chinese in the cultural and ethnic sense.

Taiwan is not 中国 and will hopefully never be, until China becomes democratic.
But Taiwan will always be 中华, and the west and the taiwanese cannot deny that fact, they can never erase their heritage.

Sure, if one thinks that sucking up to China & Russia to keep our vital Export Markets™ is what qualifies one as the "leader of the free world". Because, frankly, that is exactly what Germany has been doing.
However I happen to think that if one wants to be the "leader of the free world" one should stand up for the principles of territorial integrity of Nations that has been brazenly violated in Ukraine and Georgia or the Idea that, you know, Countries should not be throwing Millions of Muslims in literal concentration camps without consequences.

I do generally share your sentiments regarding Europeans. There does seem to be a collective amnesia regarding China here, perhaps due to limited cultural interaction (small Chinese diasporas for example) and Geographic distance, it is perceived that China is some sort of exotic foreign land that is not concerned with us and that we should not be concerned about and just do business with them. Also, especially after Brexit, Europe has lost its much of its foreign policy influence in the world, particularly regarding China. Defensive Capabilities are laughable, and EU countries either do not really have the motivation to confront Chinese influence seriously, aside from the odd expressions of "Concern", as the Western European states are, or are downright in Bed with them like the Eastern European States, Italy and Greece, going out of their way to actively obstruct and veto EU resolutions regarding Human Rights and the like. Europeans are therefore pretty much useless when it comes to China.

And more, if you wish. But, no. You took my response to the Hong Kong issue, threw all your toys out of the pram, and declared me a tankie and "reprehensible trash". Thanks, I guess...
You indicated that I was right wing, defend police when they engage in unjust violence and that you actually have sympathy for the savage authoritarian thugs that are the Hong Kong police.

You may have misunderstood my post then. If so, apologies. But I was not referencing you, I was referencing right-wing politicians in the west, people like Hawley, Rubio etc. who have very hypocritical attitudes towards Police violence in the US (which they condone) and in Hong Kong where they condemn and call for sanctions. But that does not necessitate calling me a tankie or "reprehensible trash". 90% of my posts are on the international board anyway, and correct me if I am wrong, but you do not seem to post on there, I therefore doubt that you would be in a position to make such premature judgments.
