Trump either resigns or is impeached in the next 6 months.
Mike Pence escapes Trump Mania unscathed, and becomes President.
GOP and Republican voters rally around Pence, and Pence selects Nikki Haley as his running mate.

Elizabeth Warren wins the Democratic Primary. She selects Kamala Harris as her running mate.

Predict the 2020 map.

Warren takes a huge hit for picking Harris. Which is why she would never do that.

Warren wins 275-263. Even Harris on the ticket can't screw this up.

Interesting that each ticket would include one person with some Indian heritage.  Or would the Democratic ticket contain two?  lol

Harris wouldn't be the best pick, but under these conditions, Warren would beat Pence pretty badly.

Pence is a lightweight and would lose more easily than Trump would to any Democratic nominee.

Warren is picking Castro, Harris is the worst pick.

The GOP base would be up-in-arms about their VP being the one who took down the Confederate flag at the South Carolina statehouse.

I think that in any scenario where Trump leaves office (other than death), Democrats are probably winning the popular vote by 5-10 points or more. Trump leaving office would almost certainly require many Republicans to turn on him, which would leave the party demoralized, discredited, and badly divided in the short term. The VP selections wouldn't really matter in this scenario, and Warren and Pence are both reasonably close to Generic D/R.

So I think it would be the "semi-plausible Democratic ceiling map":

Absolutely.

Anyways, Pence would be a meme. He has all the baggage from the Trump administration without the political skills. Even with an empty suit on the ticket, Warren can't mess this up.

It will be a wave election. You could even see AK become competitive.
