What if Condi Rice runs for Sen in Alabama (She has a house in Birmingham) in 1996 (let's say Sessions doesn't run for some reason) does she win?

What if in 1998 Richard Shelby remains a Democrat and thus faces off Rice in the gen.

Let's have 1998 be two parts : one timeline where she loses in 1996 but runs in 1998 after coming close and the second, she doesn't run in 1996. In either case, does she beat Shelby? What is her career path after these wins?

No way Condi Rice (R-AL) beats Shelby (D-AL)... conservatives in AL would rather keep one of their own (even if he was a Dem, they didn’t care about that so much back then) than replace him with a black female tbh
