Why don't the Democrats run against the media?

Considering how the media hates the guts of any political leader who's not a right-winger and always pulls out all the stops to advance right-wing causes, why don't the Democrats run against the media?

I'm talking about the media that has the audacity to lie to our faces about how we have the best economy in 50 years, and about Saddam having WMD's, and garbage like that.

If I was in charge of writing TV ads or mailers for Democrats, one of the first things I'd put is something against "the right-wing media."

The Right has its media -- FoX Propaganda Channel, One America News, Newsmax, Breitbart, InfoWars. Most of us hold it in contempt for distortions favoring one side.

Bad stuff has gone through Facebook, not because Facebook is a right-wing entity (it isn't), but because the social media are a sort of intellectual Wild West. People went to the West for very different reasons, whether to do farming or ranching, establish small businesses from laundries to banks, set up railroads, evangelize to First Peoples, or... prey upon people who had no idea of what was happening. The Three-Penny Opera of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill could as easily be set in a mining town or trail-head town of the American Wild West, with "Mack the Knife" as a gunslinger in the Wild West, as in the slums of London.

Just imagine how I would modify "Mack the Knife"

Social media are excellent playgrounds for poseurs such as foreign agents posing as American malcontents. The KGB would have loved to play with Facebook. Facebook seems safe enough as a place for keeping together old contacts with school buddies, talking about family members, and of course doing such things as sharing recipes or discussing the latest blockbuster movie.   But this said, haven't we all found "409" scams in our e-mail before there was Facebook? You know those -- send me a little money and I will share some of my illicit wealth with you. (It would be the crime of money-laundering if there were illicit loot, and the scammer has no connection to the families of Saddam Hussein or Muammar Qaddafi, probably the figures now in use).

Simple...cowardice...that and there isn't actually an Anti-Faux News built up. MoveOn just isn't the same.

Also the Republican Wing of the Democratic Party is still convinced that getting the fickle media to do their work is a good idea. Between JFK/Obama/Bill being rockstars and what happened when Reagan/Bushes got the whole empire on them...it's not hard to see why.

The media is corporate and promotes corporate interests, as do mainstream Democrats (amd Republicans, obviously). If they go after the media, they have to tip toe around the fact that they're just as bought and paid for as well. The OP is an interesting qiestion in regards to Bernie Sanders and AOC though. I think the reasoning there is that on a lot of issues and on issues that corporations and the rich have no interest in, the media can at times do a good job and is good for the American people (other than push for consumerism). If you attack the media too much and too generally without giving them ANY credit, you are pushing some people towards fake partisan news and conspiracy theories.

I remember when Obama dared to finally go after fox in 2009 after they spent months putting out every insane racially charged conspiracy about him they could think of and by this point fox had already been pushing the Obama is secretly a evil Muslim narrative

Obama got tired of it and finally started to fight back against fox news

Instead of the rest of the so called liberal Media calling out Fox for telling lies about him and spreading racist conspiracy theories. They quickly rushed to fox news defense and Attacked Obama for going after them in the first place

Every day they had converge claiming that Obama's Attack of the media was underrepresented and that Obama was trying to shut them down ( The rest of the media help them push that narrative)


Seeing how it played out back then I can understand why a Dem would not ever want to take on right wing media like fox news because if they do the rest of the media will quickly attack them for doing it....

This is largely a good point. Right-wing media or left-wing media, they will generally protect each other because they all fear the same thing - an authoritarian President taking action against the free press.
